Attempted good deed

Today, I saw a woman who I thought was pregnant on the bus. Trying to be nice, I offered her my seat and congratulated her. She wasn't pregnant, just holding a large bag of groceries. The entire bus heard me and the death glare she gave could’ve turned me to stone. FML

Offering a seat is fine but you should NEVER assume a woman is pregnant… ever.

I wish there were more people willing to offer their seat to a woman with large bags of groceries.

Never assume a woman is pregnant. Offering the seat up is nice, regardless.

YDI. I know first hand. Once a young lady that I coached around high school age was waiting on me years later at a restaurant. I (stupidly) pointed at her stomach and she said "what, do you think I'm pregnant? I'm just fat!" Definitely the dumbest thing I ever did.
