Quota
Today, my boyfriend told me that because he works fifty hours a week, I should be meeting an arbitrary quota of fifty hours of housework, and if I don't, I'm insensitive and ungrateful. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend called work because he is sick. Then he called me four times while I was working, to complain that I was working, and then he got mad when I told him I was sick and worked a double shift two days in a row, because apparently that's "insensitive" of me. FML
Today, I was told I'm lazy by my boyfriend because I skipped work. He skips his all the time and when I get home still have to cook and clean up after him. FML
Today, I finally landed a new job, and thinking he would be proud, I told my boyfriend. Instead of congratulating me, he got mad that my work hours include Saturday, his laundry day. FML
Today, I called my husband when his shift at work ended to talk about what we needed to do this weekend. He got angry and asked if he could have "five goddamn minutes" after work to get home and change before I started "throwing the fucking to do list at me." FML
Today, my girlfriend told me I could sleep in. Twenty minutes later, she was banging on the door, yelling, "Get up, fat lazy fuck! It's seven o'clock, we have chores! You expect me to do everything for your worthless ass!" FML
Today, after weeks of my girlfriend complaining that I don't help with the chores, I secretly took a day off work to deal with some that were piling up. When she got home, all she could do was complain about how I hadn't done more. FML
Today, my husband was working from home, so I asked him to clean the living room and basement. He started yelling about how he needs to focus and that I can't be "constantly distracting him." Sorry for expecting you to care for the space you live in, dick. FML
Today, after my boyfriend used to tell me that, with his demanding job, he just didn’t have the time or energy for a meaningful conversation with me. Thanks to COVID, he works 90% less now, finding time for online college, cooking and new furniture, yet didn’t invest even one extra minute into our couple. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to pick up a few things from the store for him while he was at work. After picking up everything he asked for, I wasn't left with much money so I used $50 from my account. When he got home he then grumbled about me spending all of "his" money. FML
Today, the previously charming guy I've been seeing for the past two weeks tried to introduce a weekly sex quota into our relationship. FML

I wouldn't normally bash OP's significant other, but considering your name, I'd say he's either pulling your leg, or he's kind of a dick.

I would be happy with a girlfriend who did 5 hours of house work..

I do about 15 hours of housework in a week and my house couldn't get any cleaner or i'd start damaging things.
TheDrifter 24
Tell my ol Lady that. I work 6 16 hour shifts a week and she insists she cleans all day, but somehow I always get stuck loading the dishwasher and tossing in laundry when I get home. Come to think of it, I should vacuum this week, it needs it.

that kind of sucks man. I know what it feels like to work shifts and just work - cook - clean -tidy - sleep. Although i don't work 16 h shifts, but often 8 h on 8 h off and then 8 on again.

I can understand him wanting a clean house when he comes home. I wish I had the opportunity to be a stay at home wife and mother. If you aren't working, the house should be kept in order. But he should not be setting rules for how many hours of work you do! Especially not when you're pregnant. Being pregnant is hard work! You're building another human being inside of yourself! That's the hardest thing to do! Guys don't get that!
boschwachter 7
Technically building another human only requires that you eat, drink, and stay healthy and it does the rest on its own... And if we're really getting technical, the only time you're making anything is when you actually are engaging in coitus, once egg becomes zygote it grows on its own and just steals nutrition from you.
thatKidzmOm 10
Um...no sir. Unless you've ever been pregnant, you have no earthly idea how much being pregnant puts a strain on a body. Along with added weight, extra cardiovascular strain (20% more blood), and those lovely symptoms such as nausea and fatigue, you also get to push an 8 pound baby out of a hole the size of a tampon......imagine THAT buddy!!! Next time, try it before you say anything!
boschwachter 7
I didn't say it was easy, I'm just pointing out a technicality.
thatKidzmOm 10
Ask any doctor...he will tell you the "technicality" you pointed out is wrooooong. Lol

Sorry. I'm pregnant and kind of sensitive on the subject of people thinking its a walk in the park when it's not. I got a little defensive. I'm done being a bitch now :)
Llamacod 11
hmmm, I guess I can see why you're being such a bitch, if your ****** opening were only the size of a tampon that must mean that your hubbies/boyfriends is literally a "pindick" and how much fun could that be? I think its called "sexual frustration".

133- what is WITH your comments today?!? You're just being nasty to everyone. (And by "everyone", I mean women.) I'm pretty sure normal women's vaginas -CLOSE- AFTER SEX. THEY DON'T REMAIN OPEN LIKE A GAPING SEX HOLE.

As someone who works 50 hours a week of hard labour I understand where he's coming from, but that's a little unrealistic to expect. Life's not fair.

He has a point. If he is working his ass off to support his family then you should show a little appreciation by straightening up around the house. If he respects and loves you enough to work a full time job, then it must be hurtful to come home to a disgusting house. But if he insists it has to be 50 hours of work, then he's just being a dick.

Dont forget to make his sammich !!!
griffy14 9
He works 50 hours a week, if you don't work, you need to pitch in some. Preggers or not.
flutter4 7
She didn't say she didn't pitch in. To set a certain amount of hours a week to clean is a little rediculous though. As long as she keeps up it's ok.

Oh sweetie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie. No man has ever been pregnant so what do they know? Nothing. Tell him that cleaning products interfere with the health of the fetus (true) and that you will gladly exchange the 50 hours of cleaning for 50 hours of cooking. Quite frankly, he is being a dick about the 50 hours of housework. I used gloves and Clorox wipes to clean my house when I was pregnant. Bleach and ammonia seep through your skin into your bloodstream and can harm your baby! However, products such as Caldrea, Mrs. Meyers, Seventh Generation and Murphy's Oil Soap are theoretically less dangerous for the fetus. (Glove up, though) Also, maybe it's time to move home and speak to a lawyer regarding child support. If he's saying crap like this, he's a bit too immature to have a child. Maybe he was just venting and didn't mean it - remember, everyone is much more emotional when they are pregnant. I would solicit opinions from your friends and (trusted) relatives. After all, he may just have been joking.
TheDrifter 24
Of course, treating him like a sperm donor/paycheck is the answer *sarcasm. There are plenty of safe for baby cleaning products and as a man who works 90 hour weeks, it's like a slap to the face mixed with a deliberate "up yours" to come home to a pigsty.
TormundGiantBane 3
Oh, you are just sad. Everything you said reeks of condescension and entitlement.
TheDrifter 24
Perhaps you are right. I should be holding down the job and keeping the house in order so she can enjoy it. What happened to relationships being a 50/50 split? The belief that men are solely a source of income and labor is the bane of my existance.
CantHandleMe 2
It's amazing how being pregnant is obviously the the hardest and most painful task to endure. NOT! If having a child was that hard then you wouldn't see 16 yr old girls doing it. How many 16 yr old boys do you see working 80+- hrs per week? Which is about what I work. Granted pregnancy must be tough for nine months. Try having the burden of being a sole provider for a family for the rest of your life. Getting a job, keeping a job, and progressing at that job takes discipline and hard work. After the woman's nine months of pregnancy the male still continues to work. Asking for op to put in 50 hrs a week of house cleaning is fine if it needs it. This should be a F**k his life for getting with such a lazy woman
THE_A_TEEN 28
What the ****? Where do you live where asking your significant other to do 50 hours of housework because you work for 50 hours is acceptable?
pinkpixie06 11
#165- Until you push a small human out of your body, you need to shut your mouth!!! 16 year old girls get pregnant because they are young and impulsive. I am blessed to be a stay-at-home mom of three young ones. Sure, a father continues to work after the baby is born and has to provide an income for his family. But if the mother is a stay-at-home mom, her job becomes far more complicated than you could ever handle! She carries the load of multiple professions (i.e. chef, maid, nurse, referee, cheerleader, taxi driver, etc...) Her job doesn't pay overtime. She works 24/7 including holidays. She has NO sick days, NO paycheck, NO days off, NO lunch break, and most days NOT EVEN a moment of peace in the bathroom! She does her job out of love AND she supports her husband/boyfriend. You wouldn't last an 8 hour shift at my job!
pinkpixie06 11
@ #199- I was replying based on my own experience. I did not mean to discriminate. I realize that a stay-at-home dad has the same job as me. My reply was more to the assumption that a woman's job becomes easy after the birth of a baby. If she stays home, her work has just begun!

TheDrifter; Not at your comment. I agree conpletely. It's the main post I cant stand. Men are not your ATM's!
