Quota

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my boyfriend called work because he is sick. Then he called me four times while I was working, to complain that I was working, and then he got mad when I told him I was sick and worked a double shift two days in a row, because apparently that's "insensitive" of me. FML
Today, I was told I'm lazy by my boyfriend because I skipped work. He skips his all the time and when I get home still have to cook and clean up after him. FML
Today, I finally landed a new job, and thinking he would be proud, I told my boyfriend. Instead of congratulating me, he got mad that my work hours include Saturday, his laundry day. FML
Today, I called my husband when his shift at work ended to talk about what we needed to do this weekend. He got angry and asked if he could have "five goddamn minutes" after work to get home and change before I started "throwing the fucking to do list at me." FML
Today, my girlfriend told me I could sleep in. Twenty minutes later, she was banging on the door, yelling, "Get up, fat lazy fuck! It's seven o'clock, we have chores! You expect me to do everything for your worthless ass!" FML
Today, after weeks of my girlfriend complaining that I don't help with the chores, I secretly took a day off work to deal with some that were piling up. When she got home, all she could do was complain about how I hadn't done more. FML
Today, my husband was working from home, so I asked him to clean the living room and basement. He started yelling about how he needs to focus and that I can't be "constantly distracting him." Sorry for expecting you to care for the space you live in, dick. FML
Today, after my boyfriend used to tell me that, with his demanding job, he just didn’t have the time or energy for a meaningful conversation with me. Thanks to COVID, he works 90% less now, finding time for online college, cooking and new furniture, yet didn’t invest even one extra minute into our couple. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to pick up a few things from the store for him while he was at work. After picking up everything he asked for, I wasn't left with much money so I used $50 from my account. When he got home he then grumbled about me spending all of "his" money. FML
Today, the previously charming guy I've been seeing for the past two weeks tried to introduce a weekly sex quota into our relationship. FML

I wouldn't normally bash OP's significant other, but considering your name, I'd say he's either pulling your leg, or he's kind of a dick.

I would be happy with a girlfriend who did 5 hours of house work..

Yes. Growing a baby inside you IS hard. And how many people do you know that voluntarily go to work when they're CONSTANTLY vomiting and nauseous? People don't. So you shut your face. Oh P.S. If you're dating a man who will leave you just because your house isn't spotless everyday, I feel bad for you because he's an asshole and he's gunna leave you when you have kids because there's NO WAY your house will aways be clean.

I know plenty of people who go to work while pregnant. I did it, twice. And yes, I had morning sickness, heartburn, edema, etc.... What do you expect people to do while they are pregnant? Lay on the couch all day? That is not at all healthy. (unless of course, told by a doctor that you HAVE to because of extreme complications) And OP said nothing about her boyfriend expecting the house to be spotless. He just wants her to work equal amount of hours. Like I posted above, just cooking/preparing him 3 meals a day (even if lunch is just a sandwich slapped together, and washing an apple for him) would be 1/3 of the work he expects. Not hard to do, even while carrying an extra 30lbs around, and needing to take breaks to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

I'm with coy brunette on this one. I'm not saying that working while pregnant doesn't present it's own set of challenges. But if you're saying that any woman isnt strong and capable enough to rise to meet those challenges, then you're moving in the wrong direction. As a female in the military, I can stand say without a doubt that unless you're being lazy or have a serious medical condition, pregnant women absolutely can work normal 40-50 hour weeks. I know single military mom's who have managed a household, pregnant, while serving their country. No sympathy for OP.

It's not like the boyfriend wants the OP to find a job with an equally long workweek, though. He wants her to do 50 hours of housework a week, even though that amount of housework is probably not necessary to maintain the house. He's expecting her to do housework for its own sake without regard to how much housework is actually required to take care of the house. That's why his requirement is unreasonable, from my point of view at least.

^That was meant to be a reply to CoyBrunette's comment at #228, but it wasn't indented properly. Sorry!

It's not arbitrary if it's based on a like for like system. Not saying I agree with the guy, but it's not arbitrary.

And...you're with this assclown why, exactly? Oh, pregnant, right. Either way, I'd tell him to go **** himself. And if he goes and gets another girl, then she's the idiot who has to meet his stupid expectations and he doesn't deserve you anyway.

nothing is free, if you aren't working then you need to contribute to the home somehow, making sandwiches is a good place to start

ask him how much he plans to pay you
keylimecat87 3
He pays her by supporting her financially, providing food, Shelter, clothing and the like. If she doesn't like being financially dependent on someone, she should contribute financially and get a job. It's really that simple. And if you want to pull the pregnancy card... One of my good friends just got a job working 40 hours a week as a manager of a sporting good stores, and she's 4 months pregnant.

If your pregnant then hes being an insensitive jerk. U should let him know that appreciate him working but u shouldn't have to do 50 hrs of housework. That's stupid.
ashtonlm 3
Ya I'd get ride of him I understand that if u aren't doing a little nit of work he can ask u to do some politely but for that that's just wrong I don't care how long I work a week I wpuld never ask my fiancé to do that unless she wanted to her self

I had a job while pregnant blah blah blah. Congrats. That means you had a fairly easy pregnancy. My first one was(I went to school and exercised daily, no problem. Morning sickness I could deal with). My second WASNT. Ya'll don't know how hard her pregnancy is, she could be so sick she can't eat or drink anything, getting 2hrs of sleep a night, peeing like a racehorse, anemic as hell, and losing weight instead of gaining. Obviously she feels like she's doing a sufficient amount of housework for her being pregnant or this wouldn't be on FML.
CoyBrunette 4
You think you are the only one who has had a hard pregnancy? You think the only people who work while pregnant are people who have had easy pregnancies? What about me and all the other women out there who HAVE TO WORK, pregnant or not. Sick or not. Easy pregnancy or hard pregnancy. Some people HAVE TO WORK. And yeah, I was anemic, had heartburn, and even lost 8 pounds in my 7th month of pregnancy. And then a scare about too much fluid, and an irregular heartbeat. I wanted to break down in tears a dozen times a day, but I did it. And it was worth it. I think this is on FML, because the princess little OP thought she had it made when she got pregnant by a man who was willing and able to take care of her financially. I think OP is upset that her boyfriend expects her to contribute a little. She thought she was going to live the life of a princess, like on all the reality shows she watches all day, and she's upset that life doesn't work that way. You want a good life? Work for it.

she is so sick yet well enough to post an fml. if she is too tired to clean that is fine, but she should not be on the computer.

You're not property. Tell him to go **** himself.

Since your tag says you are pregnant get on google and look up your baby's development... If he complains like that again look him straight in the eye and tell him " well I created a frigging arm/leg for our baby what did you do today??" some comedian told that as a joke about his wife... He was smart enough to take the hint... Lol
CantHandleMe 2
How many "frigging" arms and legs do you expect to grow with no food in your stomach or a house to live in.
