Quota

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my boyfriend called work because he is sick. Then he called me four times while I was working, to complain that I was working, and then he got mad when I told him I was sick and worked a double shift two days in a row, because apparently that's "insensitive" of me. FML
Today, I was told I'm lazy by my boyfriend because I skipped work. He skips his all the time and when I get home still have to cook and clean up after him. FML
Today, I finally landed a new job, and thinking he would be proud, I told my boyfriend. Instead of congratulating me, he got mad that my work hours include Saturday, his laundry day. FML
Today, I called my husband when his shift at work ended to talk about what we needed to do this weekend. He got angry and asked if he could have "five goddamn minutes" after work to get home and change before I started "throwing the fucking to do list at me." FML
Today, my girlfriend told me I could sleep in. Twenty minutes later, she was banging on the door, yelling, "Get up, fat lazy fuck! It's seven o'clock, we have chores! You expect me to do everything for your worthless ass!" FML
Today, after weeks of my girlfriend complaining that I don't help with the chores, I secretly took a day off work to deal with some that were piling up. When she got home, all she could do was complain about how I hadn't done more. FML
Today, my husband was working from home, so I asked him to clean the living room and basement. He started yelling about how he needs to focus and that I can't be "constantly distracting him." Sorry for expecting you to care for the space you live in, dick. FML
Today, after my boyfriend used to tell me that, with his demanding job, he just didn’t have the time or energy for a meaningful conversation with me. Thanks to COVID, he works 90% less now, finding time for online college, cooking and new furniture, yet didn’t invest even one extra minute into our couple. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to pick up a few things from the store for him while he was at work. After picking up everything he asked for, I wasn't left with much money so I used $50 from my account. When he got home he then grumbled about me spending all of "his" money. FML
Today, the previously charming guy I've been seeing for the past two weeks tried to introduce a weekly sex quota into our relationship. FML

I wouldn't normally bash OP's significant other, but considering your name, I'd say he's either pulling your leg, or he's kind of a dick.

I would be happy with a girlfriend who did 5 hours of house work..

So he works about 10 hours a day? (I'm just assuming, because 7 days minus Saturday and Sunday because it's the U.S., so 50 hours in 5 days=10 hours a day) Sounds like you should do SOMETHING to help around the house, not 50 hours of course, like 5 maybe.

Well I don't know if 50 hrs of housework exists but, since he works and you don't, you should do 100 percent of the chores.

Arbitrary = random. This was not random. He picked this number based on the "logic" that he does that much work, so should you. Thou shall use a dictionary. The 11th commandment.

Arbitrariness doesn't necessarily indicate randomness. It can also indicate unilateral imposition based on someone's whims without reasonable moderation, which seems to be occurring here.

Arbitrary more often indicates that a decision was based on the sole unrestricted judgement of one individual than the result randomness. And it's "shalt", not "shall". If you're going to be a pedant, at least get it right. Jerk.

Clearly none of you have had a tough pregnancy. I had such a hard time doing Any housework. Dishes made me so nauseated sometimes I had to stop halfway through to vomit. I was so anemic I felt amazingly tired ALL the time.I was lucky to get 5hrs of sleep bc its hard to get comfy with a belly. All of our household cleaners made me feel dizzy or nauseated.Plus I had a toddler running around.I'm not usually one to complain, but it was Really Really Hard to even do the equivalent to 20 mins of chores. Do what you can girl, if he complains, well he can just shove it. :)

Why are so many people in the comments assuming that the OP doesn't keep the house clean? Unless I'm missing something, nothing in the FML indicates this. (In any case, if she's pregnant a certain amount of leeway is obviously reasonable.) The point of housework is to keep the house clean, not to clock in a certain number of hours, and I highly doubt that their house requires an average of 7 hours of cleaning a day.

As a professional housekeeper, I worked a 40-hour week. During that week, I cleaned, from top to bottom, 10 houses. I completely cleaned one house in four hours, including laundry. And I was not pregnant. I would usually return in two weeks. Any one of you who thinks cleaning one house for ten hours each day makes any kind of sense has not done much in the way of housework. Neither has this boyfriend. He sounds rather controlling. I say, DTMFA. Tell him to go screw himself.

Pitching in is one thing, but FIFTY HOURS? Seriously... my grandmother was an old-fashioned housewife, her home was ALWAYS spotless, and I seriously doubt she spent "50 hours" cleaning her large, suburban house. If he wants a classic housewife, that goes with knowing that she WILL have leisure time without the man. She WILL have activities besides housecleaning. And YOU are in charge of your OWN life. Tell him his decisions are his own, and yours are your own, and if they don't include 50 hours of housework, so be it. All things come to an end, perhaps it's time to move on to a more considerate guy.

Exactly my sentiment (#206) ^^^

Well, you don't have to make cleaning hard and boring. I always spice it up with some music! You'll be surprised at how fast time passes by.

You should say why dnt you try house work it's much more difficult especially when you leave messes all around

OP said her boyfriend said "housework". If her boyfriend did say housework, and not just cleaning, that can mean a lot of things. Homekeeping includes planning meals, cooking meals, washing clothes, ironing, grocery shopping, shopping for baby items, paying bills, AND keeping the house clean. Just cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday would be 14 hours a week (breakfast 30mins, lunch 30mins, dinner 1hr) I did this all when I was pregnant, because I had to. Some of you sound like ******* princesses. *But dishsoap made me nauseous* *It's hard cleaning a bathtub 9 months pregnant* *I couldn't sleep at night because I was uncomfortable* Of course it was hard! You are growing another human being inside of you in a very short time. But life is hard, and you can't give up on something anytime something gets difficult. Being pregnant is not a job. Housekeeping is, and if you don't take it seriously, you're boyfriend just might find another girl for the job. It happens all the time.
