Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my mom tried to worm her way back into my life by manipulating my brother into doing the dirty work for her. I pretended to swallow the bullshit and invited her over, just so I could slam the door in her face. My brother says I went too far, like he somehow forgot what a shit mom she was. FML
Today, my mom got angry that I won't give her the funds necessary to send my little brother to military school. She wants to send him because he caught her cheating on our dad and punched her in the face. FML
Today, I yelled at my oldest son for picking his little brother up by the throat. Only to then be yelled at my my mother-in-law for hurting his feelings. FML
Today, my mom chewed me out, because my brother has been complaining to her that I don't talk to him anymore since moving out. We've never talked much, even when we were sharing a place! FML
Today, I found out that my mum has been texting my ex-boyfriend to tell him what a dick he is. FML
Today, my mother yet again chose to put my brother's junkie of an ex-girlfriend's needs and happiness above mine, despite the fact that she's stolen thousands of dollars and anything else of value from my mom's house. FML
Today, my brother learned how to fake cry. I've been catching shit for everything I've done and said near him ever since. FML
Today, I found out that my mother was having an affair with my boss "to help me keep my job" because she thought I was useless. FML
Today, I overheard my mother saying that it is “physically painful” for her not to be mean to me. FML
Today, I found out that the reason my best friend is not allowed over anymore is because he hits on my mom and writes her love letters. FML

Okay.....why? What possible reason does your mother have for doing that? Bored sadist? Tough love approach? Resentment? I'm sorry Op, that's pretty petty of your mommy dearest. :p Don't fight fire with fire though, show them you know and that you're better than that.

29- Some parents just don't realize the emotional consequences of things like that. I feel that a lot of parents think they're being "cool" by acting like immature teenagers. My mom used to be pretty bad with emotional attacks; she didn't get the message until I decided to move in with my dad. I agree with you though, fighting fire with fire isn't usually the best option. Try killing them with kindness first.

Exactly my thoughts, this comment is ridiculous for any age but especially a for 13 year old.

is your brother older or younger than you? and by how much? while I don't believe parents should get in the middle of sibling rivalry, if you're older and always picking on him, then I can't say I feel sorry for you. but if you never do anything to him, then your mom is just a jerk. return the favor and hurt both of their feelings. Big girls don't cry, they get even.

I'm thinking you're a bully Op and she's helping your brother defend himself.

^ The age old cry of the oppressor? Maybe, not enough info to tell, unfortunately. :P

Even if OP is a bully, that's still a terrible approach to parenting. Just because one kid is an ass doesn't mean you should teach your other child to be one too.
Schizomaniac 24
Hm. I disagree, 57. Sure it's all subjective, but teaching your kid to stand up to a bully, sibling or otherwise, can hardly be chalked up to terrible parenting.

There is a difference between condoning being an ass to everyone, and promoting standing up for yourself. I can see everyone's opinion but I read it like 32. Like 49 said, there isn't enough info to tell :/.

68- As 78 said, there's a difference between standing up for yourself, and sinking to the same level as the bully. This parent is teaching the child to be annoying on purpose, which is different than standing up for yourself. By being annoying and provoking OP (assuming OP is actually a bully), he (the brother) is going to be bringing more trouble his way instead of resolving it.

It really does hurt when you're treated differently than your brothers/sisters. I speak from experience.

Oh, believe me. I'm not a bully. I'm actually the exact opposite of a bully and he's my twinbrother, why would I ever bully my twin?

"**** you asshole" That's how you handle that one.

That sucks OP. Just stay strong and ignore her until you can move out. Then never be there for your family when they ask you to do things. It's gonna take some time but they'll get what they deserve sooner or later. Unless your dad or anyone else in your family doesn't think like them and is willing to help you get revenge...make their life a living hell then *devilish laugh*

I have a shitty mother too, OP (and before everyone jumps on me, sure I love her but that doesn't change she's not mother material) but I promise, there's going to come a time when you no longer care nor let it get to you. Also, you should tell your brother he is a failure at the sibling torture; if he needs your mothers help to tease you, then he sucks at life!

Awh :( I hate my mother. She favors my sisters and thinks she's going to be involved in my daughters life when she's born. Some people shouldn't be mothers. It's rough having a bitch for a "mom".
Missusluv313 9
Sadly, I can totally relate. My "mother" favors her son. My sister and I don't even deal with her anymore. People would be surprised and shocked if they knew the things she has done to us. Parents should NEVER have a favorite child. That shit hurts like hell.

I am there with you. My sister is my mother AND one of my grandmothers favorites. It's extremely damaging. As soon as I am out I am cutting my mom out of my life.

113- I can relate: I've always been considered and treated as the mentally challenged failure of the family, despite being the first in my family line of men to have gone to and graduated from college, then becoming dual ticketed in my related field. I am currently working on expanding my education into the nursing field by having completed all my pre-recs in biology and such as well as signing up for correspondence courses in a few of the classes I can get out of the way now so I can continue working while going to school and raising my family. :p Having had enough of being berated with sneering jibes and compared to both my computer techie brother and wildly irresponsible, continent-jumping sister, I politely stood up for the way my wife, sons and myself were being treated and explained how this isn't acceptable nor fair. All that accomplished was now we're estranged, and my siblings blame me for being immature and too stupid to understand their lives, much less, my own. :p Sometimes, it's truly amazing how messed up some simple little family dynamics can make you well into adulthood. :p

I don't care if that is your mother: this calls for a **** punt. Or at least some really ****** up pranks.
