Today, after my landlord has refused to fix the bathroom plumbing problem in my apartment for several days, I had to buy cat litter for myself. FML
Today, I had to use the bathroom really badly in a drug store. After I did a #2, just as I realized the handle on the toilet was broken, a knock came at the door. I tried fixing it for ten minutes, before slipping out the door, to come face to face with two employees coming to fix the toilet. FML
Today, it's been two days since my upstairs neighbour's toilet started flooding both our apartments. I have to go to the bathroom with an umbrella. FML
Today, there are people working in my bathroom. I have the shits. The only place I could think to go was in my cats litter box. I've used it twice and am now contemplating using it a third time. FML
Today, I had to pee in the kitchen sink because my bathroom is being completely revamped, and the only other toilet in the house is my parents'. They refuse to let anyone use it. FML
Today, I'm at my in-laws for breakfast. I used the restroom to do a number 2 but the water flow isn't going. It's not clogged, but the water is not fully leaving, and my boyfriend's phone is dead. I'm helpless. FML
Today, after buying an old house that lacks plumbing a few weeks ago, I’m still crapping in a bucket in the barn. My two favorite Christmas gifts are still 2 pieces of rubber to dampen the noise from my new sewage pump and a used ceramic toilet bowl. FML
Today, I had a date with a girl. After movies and dinner, we came back to my place. I had to go to the washroom BADLY. I took a BIG #2 and when I went to flush the toilet to my horror it wouldn't flush. FML
Today, I went up to take a shower. I typically go to the bathroom first, I take a mega dump, then flush the toilet. Not only wouldn't the toilet flush but I found out my parents only keep one plunger on hand. It was in the downstairs bathroom. My dad came upstairs and plunged the toilet while I stood there naked. FML
Today, we had to turn the water off due to a massive leak in the kitchen sink that the plumber was currently fixing. I managed to wait two hours before my uncooperative digestive tract said it couldn't wait any longer and I had to take a mega dump in the bathroom. I couldn't flush the toilet or wash my hands. FML

That's not "gross". First of all, a lot of people pee while showering because it's good for athlete's foot, not to mention is easier than going to the toilet. Second of all, I'm sure she rinses it down - it's not like she's just bathing in a tub of urine. And all the soap running down should further clean it.

#16, it actually is really gross. When I was like 6 or 7, I thought it would save time to just pee in the tub while I was in the shower, and I made sure it all went down the drain and rinsed the tub with soap and water. And yet, somehow Mom could still smell it, and I definitely got yelled for peeing in the tub. While you may think it's fine and conserves water or whatever, if other people can smell your pee while they're trying to clean themselves... ewww. The toilet is your friend.

Actually, most plumbers wont come for a repair unless the landlord calls them. I had to wash dishes in the bathroom sink for 2 months once, because our landlord wouldnt call the plumber and they refused to come fix it without her authority. Our kitchen sink, and dishwasher, were draining into our basement. We also ended up ruining a bunch of stuff that happened to be in the area of the leak, because we didn't notice it right away. OP probably has no control over fixing it.

actually OP does. it's against the law for a toilet or fridge to be out of service. they have to come at 3 am even. your dishwasher isn't a necessity.

I wasn't implying that a dishwasher, or kitchen sink was a necessity. Nor can i find any information that says it's illegal to have a broken toilet, and that plumbers are required to respond immediately. Or about fridges for that matter, though it isn't particularly relevant.

In most cases the landlord is required to maintain the property's features (including plumbing, appliances, etc) that existed at the start of the lease throughout the lease. if you choose to lease a place without a fridge or toilet (or choose to supply your own) that's your choice, but if you lease one that includes such features the landlord is normally obligated to maintain them.
