It's the final countdown
Today, I found out my mom has notebooks with lists of everything she has bought for me ever since I was born. Apparently she is going to make me pay her back for all the money she spent on me once I'm an adult. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I told my mom I wasn't doing very good mentally and I was looking for some support. She decided to remind me of all of the things I still haven't paid her back for. I'm now an unpaid loan, not her daughter. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML
Today, my mother found out I published a book. She demanded that I pay her all my royalties as repayment for her raising me. FML
Today, it's been months that my mom has owed me $174, and every time I ask she tells me she's too poor to pay me back. Girly bought an entire 180k dollar farm with my grandparents the day after I asked (also the money was used for gas, and she guilt tripped me into giving it to her). FML
Today, I found out that my grandma has been sending me birthday money every year. My mom just steals it before I ever see it. FML
Today, I discovered my mom has been using my credit card to buy everyone's Christmas presents. FML
Today, I discovered my own mother has been stealing money from me for months when I opened my savings box to find it empty. FML
Today, my mom yelled at me because I refused to lend her money. The reason I won't lend her money? The last time I did, she and my dad went out and bought a Macbook and a new car instead of paying bills. Apparently, I'm being 'selfish' by keeping my own money and putting it towards university. FML
Today, I found out my mom took around $2,500 from my savings account to pay off my sister's college tuition. She recently flunked out of her studies and won't be returning to college anyway. FML
Today, I found out my mom paid my best friend $20 to be my friend when we were 10. FML

aw, shes just caring for you..

Caring would mean that OP's mother wouldn't be counting up all the money she spent on OP.
FMLollie 7
You should burn/shred the notebooks!!
iLazy 0
Mothers actually expect it back. they just aren't as direct as OP's one

explain how she is going to "make" you pay her back. you have no legal obligation.
pertained 12
Don't forget labour charges, I've heard they cost a lot.

How is that caring? Tell your bitch of a mother that you did pay her back by her getting a nice fat check every tax year.
herrobear 0
Explain to her that as a parent, it was her JOB or RESPONSIBILITY to buy you things, and that she can expect you to spend just as much and be just as loving with your child. However, you will not be making any effort to pay back your mother for meeting the requirements of a parent.

its sarcasm, if you wanna troll, make sure you know the basics of language
BelleElle_fml 5
My mom makes it seem like she wants it all back, but I think she's joking. I least I hope she is.

have any of you ever heard of sarcasm?

23-I happen to be a mother and would never tell my son to pay me back for anything. If he borrows money from me after he's an adult, I may consider asking for it back if I needed the money also. But paying for everything for your kid is part of your parental responsibilities. Whether you can get them all that they want or can only afford all that they need, you should be the one to pay for it and only you. (the parent)

Tell her not to buy you anything anymore what an abusive BITCH!!! So save up and when your 18 get your own apartment but move out while she's at work so you don't have any trouble
Sacurason 0
Unfortunately, she may have been planning to rely on her mother through college. As a matter of fact, I'm sure the mother has at least some threat she's using to get what she wants.
Sukismama 2
41, exactly my thoughts.i never heard of a mother doing this and if 23 thinks that all mothers expect reimbursement then I would hate for my mom to be one of them.
Sukismama 2
#123 very well put, and I agree with you %100

Better start saving up!

tell her you'll pay her back by taking care of her into old age. and it will involve many of the same things.
SmallTownCutie 0
I was going to say, if you ever become wealthy OP, pay her back. Not with money of course, but take those notebooks, and buy her everything she bought you. Diapers, bottles, clothes, video games, etc. Leave them all over her house. She can't complain then.
lntreis_fml 0
There's only one way around it. Disappear out of her life once you turn 18 and move to another country! :D
Bassmasterclassi 2
just tell her that you didn't ask to be born so **** off.
freelove_fml 2
Just ask your grandma to produce a similar book on your mom.
barmeywashere 0
Wait wait OP, your mother has also forgot a few more parts that you have to pay her back.. All the hours that added up to years that she took care of you, she could have gotten a job..so basically in her mind you owe her millions of dollars.. I feel strongly bad for you and suggest you to explain to her that you will pay her .000001% of what you 'owe' her to go to a therapist or some parenting classes
OMGIFOUNDWALDO 6
you don't have to pay her back, you have the law on your side
panda07_fml 9
That's a good plan 108
NerdsWillRule 3
Pay her back in pennies, you can leave a little out because I doubt she'll count them.
mikejunior88 4
lol damn, that's gonna be expensive. hopefully she doesn't want it all at once.
sillylolo 6
I'm with you on that I hope she lets you make payments
unfortunate_13 5
i wouldn't pay. it was her choice to get a baby, so it's her responsability to take care of you. she has no legal ground to stand on either.
VorpikeII 17
I agree with 24. just don't pay. you didn't sign anything when you were born, you also had no decision on the matter. therefore, you don't have to pay.
Flutist 3
I would suggest moving out when you get a chance, taking out a loan and making sure you have your own money and bank account that she has no access to.
WallyTheWombat 0
Yea, legally she can't do anything. She's required to pay for your living expenses and all that. So now you can ask her for expensive stuff and just tell her to add it to "your tab" since she thinks you're gonna pay her back.
cameron194 9
146, and then at the end of it all once you've "racked up your bill" and she's asks you to tart giving payments.. Just laugh and walk away, there's nothing so can do lol:p

Pay her back in pennies.
No_LoveMM 3
No because pennies aren't legal tender....hurrrr everyone knows that.
Ezri 0
Uh, in the US they are - we paid in pennies several times when we visited the US last year, we got them in change and they were accepted (unhappily, but they took them) when we made small purchases.
thebestof1984 0
47, are you ******* retarded? If it wasn't legal, why is the government still making pennies? Get your facts straight buddy!!
stormchaser24 24
I was thinking the same thing. Ten years from now Today my son paid me back for everything I brought for him when he was a kid in pennies.
No_LoveMM 3
I think it is safe to assume here that nobody reads yahoo news.
B5A7R5B7I5E7 1
The US Coinage Act of 1965, which has not yet been superseded by a new coinage act, made ALL US coins (which includes pennies) legal tender. Individual businesses may specify HOW they wish to accept payment- which is how McDonalds and other places can refuse a $100 bill- but that doesn't render the penny as non-legal tender. Further when a debt is agreed upon, such as a car loan, the business must provide you, up front, with their expected payment options- such as refusing to accept pennies, cash, personal checks, etc. Failure to do so could result in the debt being stricken if they refuse to accept legal tender.
