First date blues

Today, I was getting ready for my first date with a boy I really like when my dad insisted on meeting him. My dad is super protective and a cop. He cleaned his gun in front of my date and made it clear he had to be careful with me. My date started to cry when we got to the car. FML

if i was (were?) him id be like "thats a nice gun may i see it for a second...?" or strated juggleing the bullets then your dad would know the act wasn't working and it might have been his personal gun not his cop one.

agreeing with #110. I can empathize with overprotective dads but that's kinda excessive, I think. Hope things work out well.

whoa #124...calm down a little?? for all those saying its fake or came from twilight or from that rodney atkins song, where i live this is normal for all dads. my dad did it when i went to prom, my best friends' dads did it for them too. it's all part of being a father, and i know when i have a daughter i'm sure my husband will do the same thing. OP at the time it seems real embarrassing and you must hate your dad, but later down the road you'll look back on this and laugh your ass off one day.

FYL for having such a pussy of a date

honestly, if that happened to me, I would probably laugh, just because it's such a cliche. and, I mean, he's obviously not actually going to shoot me. also, if i knew my date's dad was a cop, I'd probably research guns in case he pulled something like that. he takes it out: "oh, is that a ______? how's the trigger guard on that thing? i heard that the kick makes it really ineffective unless you modify it with a _____."

LOSER!

Your dad seems like an insecure douchebag, sorry. There's nothing wrong with looking out for your kids at all, but treating them like property and showing clear disrespect to a complete stranger shows lack of maturity and security.

girls dad points a gun at me ??? i **** his daughter that night with her permission of cross and ill tell him about it with a tee shirt that says i **** your daughter to are first dinner with her parents

It was just his way of saying: "You better keep your pistol in its holster, sonny-boy, cuz if you bang my daughter, I'm going to bang you!"
