Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I decided to buy a meal for a homeless man who was being shunned at an intersection. When I went to hand it to him, I realized it was my dad, wearing a tattered old shirt and pretending to be homeless to make some money. FML
Today, a customer gave me the dirtiest look ever and muttered, "Goody two-shoes prick" after I asked if he'd like to donate a few cents to charity. FML
Today, at the supermarket, an old lady asked for directions to the produce aisle. Having read way too many stories lately on this very site about awful elderly folks, I was wary, but helped her out. She gave me an awkward hug in thanks, lifting my wallet in the process, as I later found out. FML
Today, as I served an elderly man at the fast-food restaurant where I work, he leaned over the counter so that his face was mere inches from mine and asked me if I wanted to buy his car. When I politely told him I wasn't interested, he insisted on making a complaint about me to my manager. FML
Today, I drove my dad to Walmart to do some shopping. His leg is still in a cast after an accident, so I helped him to the last mobility scooter. A guy whose only disability was clearly Fat-Fuck Syndrome then yelled at us, claiming he needed it more and that my dad was a faker. FML
Today, an old man looked me dead in the eyes as he reached into my tip jar, grabbed the money, and then walked out of the store as if nothing ever happened. I was so shocked that I couldn't do anything to stop him. FML
Today, an old man wanted to give me a tip for bagging his groceries. He slipped some money as deep into my pocket as he could, stroking my thigh for a few long seconds in the process, then he gave me a creepy smile and winked before walking away. FML
Today, the cashier asked if I wanted to donate $1 to help hungry children. I said, “Not today, thank you.” The man behind me loudly said, “Wow…” Now everyone thinks I hate children. I'm just that broke. FML
Today, as I was walking home from school with my guy friends, my dad pulled up by the sidewalk, offered me a handful of dollar bills and said, "Get in, baby." Only after we drove away and he started laughing did I realize I'll probably never hear the end of this at school. FML
Today, as I spent my last $6 on groceries, the woman at the register gave me a dirty look because I declined to donate $1 to a children's charity. My six year-old son immediately chimed in with, "Mommy, why aren't you helping the poor children?" FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

My mum usually talks back in German to throw them off. Sometimes they speak back in German. She's lost then, as she only knows a few words. Not too clever either.

The worst part about Alzheimer's disease is...uh, I forget.

There's nothing wrong with donating and op yur dad must have sometype of social anixaty disorder
sallyfastcat 2
And you must have some spelling disorder. I will gladly donate to your cause
melody309 35
Actually, he does have social anxiety. And he's kind of a jerk. Gotta love him.
outstandtacular 11
I have social anxiety but I don't act like a moron because of it.
melody309 35
Maybe you're not a jerk on top of having social anxiety, like my dad! :)
traveler_ghost 12
How did he act dirty & how is that part of Alzheimer's? but either way, that was beyong rude of him to do
sallyfastcat 2
Just curious, but Are you the OP, 47?
sallyfastcat 2
Okay I swear I saw 47 under your comment o.o I'm not crazy. My apologies.
melody309 35
He pointed at this random chick and called her cute really loudly. I was mortified.

I feel bad for the people who have to deal with crap like your dad did.
traveler_ghost 12
That's like my dad with solicitors
Warden1986 16
Solicitors, that is different I just hang up on them or shut the door with a no thank you. We it comes to raising money for a disease that's different, if you do not have the funds or already donated, simply say no thank you. No need to act like a child like OP father did.
Warden1986 16
That's just wrong. He needs to grow up and and just say no thank you. Acting stupid like he did is really immature. Being that he's your father, he's a poor role model. Alzheimer's is not a joke, and a very harsh thing to go thru.
melody309 35
He's not a poor role model, he just has a poor sense of humor! Seriously, though, I'm sorry he offended you.
Warden1986 16
I'm sorry, however there's no humor there on what he did. I hate getting on a uproar specially since I'm have a sense of humor and easy going. However I worked in the medical field for 6 years and personal home care. I've seen how Alzheimer's effects family's. To have their wife's/children walk into the room and the Alzheimer's patient does not even know who they are, is tragic to the family. Sorry to vent that out, but acting like he did is offensive to me. We are so lucky to be "normal". Like I said a simple no would be easy to say, instead of acting like an immature adult with his son being there no less. I don't know how he acts otherwise and can/could be a good role model, however at that moment in time he was not.
melody309 35
I know it was in poor taste. I apologized for his behavior. And I hate to tell you this, but I'm his daughter, not his son.
Warden1986 16
My apologies for that, I didn't read your profile. Also I did not know you we're the OP, until after I posted that comment, I tried to edited in time. You do not need to apologize for your father.

I'm not used to reading such polite banter between people on here. Good job you two.
icekitten14 12
I agree, why would you do something like that? The people going through it probably wouldn't appreciate his actions.
xInwex 12
I usually donate to those things :P granted, I do have an incurable illness myself so I think it's nice to show support. However, a polite "no, thanks" or something else would have sufficed in your dad's case :S seemed rather rude.

Yup 24- As terrible as it is, I'll probably have breast cancer one day since every woman in my family has/does. So I purchase anything I can that gives the money to the cause. ^_^

I have an uncurable disease which makes me act like a retard and embarrass my daughter c:
SqueakyChipmunk 22
"Sir, would you like to donate to the Alzheimer's fund?" "What? Who are you? Where am I? Where's my coffee!?" "You poor man."

So, if someone's collecting for colon cancer, he'll act like an asshole?
Warden1986 16
He basically already did.
deegeebee 10
and if someone's collecting for penile cancer, they'll act like a dick.
Rodders_SOTC 1
Should probably teach him to man up and say no. Pathetic.
melody309 35
If I were able to train my dad to do anything, believe me, I would. Unfortunately, he's probably not going to change. Sorry he offended you, though.
