Today, the guy I really like asked me if I'd like to go to a hockey game this weekend. I said I'd love to go, so he said, "Then you'd best get a ticket soon before they sell out." I still don't know if I have a date or not. FML

Today, my date for this weekend called and asked if he could bring his possible new girlfriend on our weekend getaway as well. FML
Today, the guy I've been madly in love with for ages finally asked me out. I excitedly said yes. I waited a half an hour for him to show up, with another girl and say, "Where's your date?" I was asked to go on a double date, but apparently he forgot to tell me. FML
Today, a guy I've liked for a while asked if he could talk to me during break. He'd never done that before, so I was excited and said yes. As soon as we both sat down, he asked if I'd help him get a date with my best friend. FML
Today, the girl I really liked started talking to me, so I asked her out on a date. After waiting an hour at the theatre, I texted her asking where she was. She replied with, "Oh! You were serious about the date?!" FML
Today, I went on a date for the first time in eight months. He didn't make a move. I then asked if we were on a date. He said, "I don't know, I guess." I can't tell either. FML
Today, I went on a first date with a guy I've been crushing on for a while. When he dropped me off, I said thank you and that we should do it again sometime. He replied, "Yeah, maybe next Halloween." FML
Today, I was planning on going on a date with a girl I've really liked. She told me today was the only we could hang out before her trip. I got an expensive hair cut, planned on cooking her dinner, and pulled a few strings and got on the list for a big concert. Turns out she'd rather go shopping FML
Today, I went on a date with a guy that I really like. At the last minute he informed me a friend would be tagging along. To keep his friend from being a third-wheel, I kept up a conversation, and managed to piss my date off. He thought I would be a better match for his friend. FML
Today, I asked a girl what time she'd like me to pick her up for our date tonight. She didn't know what I was talking about. It seems like, after months of sweaty palms, nervous smiles, and awkward sentences, I only dreamed she said yes to going out. FML
Today, I finally got the courage to make a move on the guy I've been crushing on. I asked him if he would like to go see a movie with me. He answered, "Sorry, I've already seen it." I didn't even mention any particular movie. FML

while I don't necessarily think it's fair that he invited you and then so quickly told you to buy your own ticket, I don't want to say that he is obligated to buy your ticket either just because he's a guy... if I invite a girl I like out on a date, I'm paying for her, because I personally think of a "date" as a treat - I'm treating her because I want to show my affection. others probably won't agree, but I'd be safe and say you probably don't have a date, OP...

am i the only one whos not so cynical about this? doesnt sound like its a date but does sound like he wanted you to come, maybe hes going with a group already and just wants you to join in. going could be a step in the right direction if you like him. and besides, its hockey! go to the game!

I don't know how people can look at this and not realize it's not only not a date, it's not "let's go as friends", either. The dude has no intention of going to a hockey game with the OP. This is a joke, a cruel joke. It's the same formula as "Is your refrigerator running? Then you'd better go catch it!", with the bonus twist that it sets up an emotional expectation and then stomps on it.
