and you're not with me because...????
no i'm kidding.

but NO, i am.
Well, on the bright side - at least you know she's less likely to be the type to blow you up if you ever forget an anniversary :P

it's been ten years and you still don't have a ring on her finger? Time to move on, good sir.
#3 - On 02/13/2009 at 6:25am by D Block
10 years? No ring? She should have dumped you 8 years ago.
#4 - On 02/13/2009 at 6:26am by Bob
What else did she get you?
Seriously? Maybe it's because after ten years she is still your girlfriend and not your wife.
#6 - On 02/13/2009 at 6:57am by jbj
Well, there are several possibilities here:
-she's really broke
-she's angry at you about something
-she doesn't care

#11 - On 02/13/2009 at 8:43am by B.
50% of US marriages end in divorce
In EU: less then one third
In Europe, we wait untill we really know eachother before we get married...
You all watch too much tv!
#12 - On 02/13/2009 at 8:53am by ica
hah! maybe he's saying..10 years since first date..but not 10 years since wedding? lol. idk :[ i don't know how it works, i'm too young.
Hey ica, let's now have a "Europe is better than America" (or vice versa) battle please

If I'm with a girl for ten years and she's getting pissy about marriage, she can leave. I don't need a piece of paper and expensive jewelry to proclaim love. These days, it's just a contract entitling her to half your stuff when she gets bored and cheats.
#16 - On 02/13/2009 at 9:44am by JFP
Afterwards, it's a sign : She wants you to guide her...but obviously, you just want to watch some TV...
I'd say that's actually a pretty decent present to get from a ten year old.

See, I thought you'd come out the winner because where I'm from, 'torch' indicates something that shoots fire.
Then I realized you meant flashlight. And lol'd.

OOOHH!!! KINKAAAYYY!!!!!!!...oh wait!! #23 i thought u said a Fleshlight!!!
#25 - On 02/13/2009 at 12:40pm by total_kollapse
Maybe you should have given her a ring instead, then she could have given you the best present of all...her hand.
#26 - On 02/13/2009 at 1:22pm by 10 Years
I agree a keyring is a bit on the low end, but I would never expect to get something as fancy as a TV as an anniversary gift. Maybe that's just because I'm not rich though.
#27 - On 02/13/2009 at 2:16pm by What did you expect
propose already
#28 - On 02/13/2009 at 2:51pm by meh...
I'm with number 23. So confused until I read that.
#29 - On 02/13/2009 at 3:16pm by Asthmasucks
And what's keeping her from proposing?
I swear, if this was a woman, you'd all be telling her to dump the guy. It's always the guys' fault isn't it?
so you got two gifts?
#31 - On 02/13/2009 at 4:39pm by wes
For one, maybe they haven't gotten married because they mutually agree they don't want to, freakshows.
Now that that's out of the way, I still think you deserved it. My boyfriend and I *always* discuss a price range before gift holidays so this awkwardness and disappointment doesn't happen.
girlfriend of 10 years? wtf?
#33 - On 02/13/2009 at 6:47pm by NIGGERFAGGOT!@!!
#12 you're wrong...the divorce rate in the US is 65%(and higher in California). Don't let anyone talk you into marriage..do you really want to lose half of your shit? If females had to pay alimony(some do but the majority do not) they wouldn't be so keen on marriage. Have you ever been around women when there's a news report of a female celebrity having to pay alimony? They sound worse then guys! Fucking hypocrites.
To frans the mod who commented on #12, I live in the US and I've been a few places in Europe and it is better. If I could afford it I would move to Germany, and not come back.
If you're in a relationship and you or your partner is of the mindset that gifts=love(most of you do, hence dumb him or dump her for not having an expensive gift, or it's not jewelery, etc, etc,) you're with the wrong person. If there is real love there could be no gift and it wouldn't be a problem. I doubt very many of you can even grasp that concept...the girls are fuming for sure.
#34 - On 02/13/2009 at 9:55pm by truth
Aww, looks like someone has a few issues in their life.
"If there is real love there could be no gift and it wouldn't be a problem. I doubt very many of you can even grasp that concept...the girls are fuming for sure."
While I agree that gifts shouldn't have a big place in relationships, you cannot have a relationship on "love" alone. Keep in mind gifts aren't just material things.
Also, if so many people are "missing" this concept, shouldn't the concept be changed? Or does this follow religion's view of "I'm right, you're wrong, end of discussion"?
We have no idea how old they are...maybe they started dating at 13 or 14 years old, so big deal. Or maybe they live together.
#35 - On 02/17/2009 at 2:05am by poeteyes
seriously....bad taste in gifts. last thing you ever want to get your girlfriend of 10 years is a nice TV. do you really want annother excuse for her to sit on the couch and get fat?
on the other hand. its 10 years. she got you something useless...tho possibly necessary if you constantly stumble home late and can't find your keys. You got her something for yourself. Sounds like a rewarding relationship.
Hell, if after 5 years no ring, one of you needs to move on, unless you started dating when you were 16.
But if you can afford a new TV for her, you can afford jewelry.
Man up.
#37 - On 02/17/2009 at 10:08am by deabruzo
Maybe it was so you could finally find her clit?
#38 - On 02/17/2009 at 4:57pm by Anonymouse
ahahaha omg a flashlight! i'm so glad someone cleared that up with a comment :)
This is why it's a good idea to discuss how much you're going to spend on gifts before the anniversary comes up. It's called communication, people. Also, who cares if you didn't get a gift of similar expense? How was she supposed to know how much to spend on you??
#40 - On 02/19/2009 at 1:23pm by Tunasammich
you really shouldn't have given her anything anyway if you EXPECTED something in return. You give her something becuz you WANT to, not becuz u have to. and I agree with #40
#41 - On 02/20/2009 at 3:39am by dinnerdumped
I would have given him the finger 7 years sooner!
You = key ring.
#43 - On 02/24/2009 at 9:52am by nobody
I'm gonna have to agree with almost everyone else here. Ten years without even being engaged is pretty sad.
Wow, #16 is bitter. I would NEVER cheat, thank you very much, and furthermore, part of the reason for marriage is because I'm Christian, and the Bible says no living alone before marriage.
Anyways, although that's a bit of a blow, you have to realize that love isn't about material items. Besides, like someone said, she may be annoyed that you haven't proposed to her yet.
@ #45 I doubt anyone would be with him for that long. He sounds like a real charmer.
Its been 10 years and your not married yet?... No wonder you got jack shit.
Completely agree with #4. Why have you been going out with her for the past 10 years? If you love her marry her (like I'm sure she's hoping for), otherwise stop wasting her time.
lol!!!
#49 - On 04/17/2009 at 9:44am by evg
Is your username referring to tampons... ur strange. oh yea and ur gf is a BIATCHHHH
To all of you asking why they're not married yet... Not everyone wants to get married! Perhaps the OP & his girlfriend are one of those couples that have agreed that they don't want to get married, & are more than happy living together.
Seriously, these days a lot of people just live together, & don't worry about getting married. It's not an absolute 'must' in order to have a family, you know.
Also, what's to stop his girlfriend from proposing? Seems to me that they're happy with the way things are.
I'm going to say this "10th anniversary" isn't their 10 year anniversary. Wouldn't you get someone something more meaningful (both sides) if you were dating 10 years? Screw marriage, if either one wanted it, they'd of asked for it by ten years and if not, who really gives a damn? If they have been together for ten years, it's obviously not going too well if the OP is writing to FML instead of talking with his girlfriend. Which leads me back to 10th anniversary probably doesn't refer to 10 years.
she was probably pissed from being your girlfriend still after 10 years. instead of a tv maybe you should have proposed!
Ooh ooh ooh! I want one! Where'd she get it?
