Today, I took an IQ test and ended up scoring above average. Feeling good about myself, I decided to bake some cookies. After 30 minutes of them not doing anything in the oven, I realized I forgot to turn the oven on. FML

Baked
Today, I baked a cake for when my mum came home. I did everything I needed to do and put it in the oven, set the timer and went to do some things around the house. When my mum came home, she asked why there was a uncooked cake mix sitting in the oven. I forgot to turn the oven on. FML
Today, I was baking cookies. I stared at them for 15 minutes and finally asked my dad, "Why are these taking so long?" He looked up at the oven and replied, "It might help if you turn the oven on." FML
Today, I went to interview with potential new roommates at a cooperative living house. I decided to bake cookies for everyone, and while touring the house, I forgot about the cookies and set off a small oven fire. All this after professing how responsible I am. FML
One night
Today, I woke up after putting my child to bed. Drowsy, I stumbled down to the kitchen to make a mug cookie. I read a recipe on my phone, and put a knob of butter in a cup to melt in the microwave. I put my phone in the microwave and turned it on for 30 seconds, and didn't realize what I'd done until I smelt burning plastic. FML
Poor Despereaux
Today, I baked a cake. After feeding it to my entire family, I opened the stove, planning to temporarily store the cake inside. I then noticed a mouse, burnt to a crisp. FML
Masterchef
Today, I was making some scrambled eggs. I had the eggs in a pan, stirring for about ten minutes, before I realised that the eggs were cooking very slow. I tried to figure out what was wrong for another few minutes before my grandma pointed out to me that the oven wasn't turned on. FML
Training wheels
Today, I’m learning to cook and invited friends over to prove I’m improving. I timed everything perfectly… or so I thought. I realized I’d never actually turned the oven on. We stood around a beautifully plated tray of room-temperature lasagna while I said, “It just needs… a bit more time.” Two hours later, we ordered pizza. FML
Masterchef
Today, I was trying out a new pizza recipe that I saw online. I made the dough, spread the sauce, and added my toppings. As I was about to put it in the oven, I realized I'd forgotten to preheat it. No big deal, or so I thought. I then knocked the entire fucking uncooked pizza face-first onto the kitchen floor. The dog ate better than I did tonight. FML
Today, after 30 minutes of pre-heating the oven to make a special meatloaf for my husband's birthday, I remembered that I had hidden the cake in there. FML
Today, to be nice, I baked cookies for my step-mom as a birthday present. I burnt my hand while putting them in the oven, but I'd hoped it would be worth it. When she got home, I gave one for her to try. She took a bite, spit it out, and threw it on the floor, asking if it was a joke or if I was really trying to poison her. FML

Everyone makes dumb mistakes. Unfortunately, it was your turn.

Clearly you are of such supreme intelligence that the little things, such as turning the oven on, do not trouble you nor disturb your state of elevated thought. It's ok, your probably a genius.

Ah, such irony.
Pleonasm 35
Seems like anything can be ironic these days.

Wow, did you check to make sure your pilot light wasn't out? That's a dumb way to die
Codezlol 21
31- gas stoves are pretty rare these days, but I agree, that would be a dumb way to die lol
akiahara 14
Gas ranges are certainly not rare...

Pleonasm, Doc is right. it is you're.
ManInTheMachine 19
52-Did you really jump to another thread to defend Doc? That's dedication right there. Fanboys everywhere should follow by your example.
Pleonasm 35
Hahaha, I had a good laugh at this one.

What does your IQ have to do with forgetting to turn an oven on?
n_epic_fail 14
I'm trying to understand how getting a high IQ score makes you want to bake cookies...

Yeah. I could get 100% on a math test, but I still managed to hit my head on a doorframe I wasn't even walking through. It's quite possible to be smart, but stupid sometimes ;)
GTAmax99 12
And somehow the average person is dumber than you?
EpicSquishii 21
*More dumb

One of my friends used to say "Think about how dumb the average person is. Then remember that 50 per cent are even dumber than that."
Pleonasm 35
That's the median, not the average. You're assuming an even distribution, when it isn't the case.
jureuter 14
Median is a type of average, I think that by "average" you mean the "mean", right?
TEXASDude45 5
81- mean and average are the same thing. Median, however, is not the same thing
TheChiver 7
Median is the middle number of a set of numbers that are lined up from the least to the greatest. Average, as was said before, is not the same thing.
Laurenluvz 11
It wasn't really dumb. A dumb mistake is more of the way I would word it. It's a careless mistake. It doesn't make OP unintelligent is all. Any person could have made the same mistake..
CueTheMusic 22
Ah, i've done that many a time. Just turn it on now and look forward to your delicious cookies!
SAspring 17
Yeah same here, usually doesn't take me 30 minutes to catch my mistake though :p
tararochelle 18
30 minutes is a long time! Usually, when you open the oven to put them in and it's cold.. That's a sign! IQ tests are not a measure of common sense though, are they?
Synistiel 14
It was just a mistake. It's not like you don't know 1+1. Hopefully.
peppermintpink 11
Exactly. It's not like you can't figure out how to turn the oven on... IQ and forgetfulness or absent mindedness are 2 separate things... Quite a few geniuses are absent minded... Don't worry... I say bake those suckers now and celebrate... :)
SharnaaaBanana 22
It wasnt an online test was it?
imazaari 12
Dunno why you got thumbed down, I thought what you thought lol.

You're probably a genius too, I imagine.
Pleonasm 35
*your, Doc. Remember that when you achieve a state of supreme genius, you no longer ARE genius, you HAVE it, you exude it from every orifice in your body.
Fluffydemise 18
Woohoo, the grammar Nazis are out to play. I'm a dumbass anyway, i'm the guy who couldn't catch a typo despite watching the edit timer run down and assuring myself I had typed my message satisfactorily.
supportcommand 17
There's no grammar naziing going on here. Simply a play on words. Now grammar nazi me for typing *naziing*.
gc327072 30
Well 72 they simply did nazi their error.
supportcommand 17
Well done 80- I actually l'd ol.
cwjb99 9
Well turn it on now
luminos_ 9
I think OP turned the oven on before posting an FML about it.
Jordath_Fil 11
Are you sure? OP forgot to turn it on before putting the cookies in.....
TheOnlyKittyKat 15
Honest mistake, it's like walking into a room and forgetting why you're there. Happens to everyone :)

Since he's a man, he's not as skilled in the kitchen as us ladies. So this is understandable. xD
tararochelle 18
Oh, absolutely! A ladies job is in the kitchen while men do the REAL work!
