Man or woman?

Today, I was texting a girl that I've liked for some time. When I asked her what she was doing, she replied "texting and p.s. I love you". I replied by telling her my feelings for her. Turns out "p.s. I love you" was the name of the movie she was watching with her friends. FML

I agree, your life sucks (25811) - you totally deserved it (7298)

Haha you dumbass. I love that movie

#1 - On 10/11/2009 at 7:14pm by playfuldesk

What's a movie?

#7 - On 10/11/2009 at 7:32pm by Zhejan

Actually, not so dumb. She never mentioned actually watching the movie. Take out "texting and" and all you have is "[I'm] p.s. I love you" ... how does that mean "I'm watching P.S. I Love You"? So it's her fault for being a stupid twit.

#10 - On 10/11/2009 at 7:37pm by DameGreyWulf

No, it's his fault for confessing his feelings via text in the first place.

#18 - On 10/11/2009 at 8:14pm by lmmmr

Texting, it's the only way people express their feelings, sorrows, and breakups these days.

#19 - On 10/11/2009 at 8:21pm by redbluegreen

He thought she did admitted her feelings in the first place. Why not reply in that manner?
Let's rework the FML...
"Today, the guy I like texted me, asking what I was doing. Feeling brave, I responded "texting and p.s. I love you." He never replied. FML."
IE: If she had meant it like he thought she did, then him NOT responding would have screwed it up, unless he immediately hopped in the car and came over... then I guess that can be called spontaneously romantic, but it's a good thing he didn't since that's not what she meant.
What he did wasn't wrong in the slightest, he was just misfortunate.

#25 - On 10/11/2009 at 9:11pm by DameGreyWulf

If I expected that someone confessed their feelings for me through a text message, I would call them. Interpretation and personal expression are just as important as the words you choose, so if you throw that out the window by limiting yourself to a text message then you deserve it. Emotions =/= emoticons.

#28 - On 10/11/2009 at 9:27pm by lmmmr

You can express yourself through text. How the hell do you think poetry started? lol
Okay, sure, calling might have been better, but generally we're a sheep-esque species. We tend to do what the another person does first. Is it always what you should do? No... but I don't think she would have faulted him for spilling his heart out in text if that's what she did first, and in any case I don't think it's right to.

#29 - On 10/11/2009 at 9:48pm by DameGreyWulf

so true! damn kids

#32 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:12pm by fuzzy_wuzzy

At least you got it out there in the open. If she didn't take it the way you hoped, then you at least found out that she was a lost cause. Even if she said "I mean the movie" you should've said "Oh...my mistake...though it doesn't make what I said any less true." Though if someone texting me something like that, I'd immediately call them and see if it really was what I thought it was and not something else, like it was here. You don't really deserve anything. You professed your feelings, which were true, to the girl you liked. Is that really a bad thing?

#45 - On 10/12/2009 at 12:06am by Reyo

Poetry started by word of mouth. And you can hardly argue that it is a clear means of communication of one's feelings. You can almost never discern the authors original intent in decent poetry, there's an entire critical movement about it. We are a sheepish society because people continually fail to fault people for being sheepish. If the lemming would simply stop and say, "Hey guys, maybe jumping off this cliff isn't the best way to go about this" their reputation might be a little more respectable. I mean, I text all the time. I'm not going to crucify the guy, but he could have given the situation a little more thought.

Reason tends to go right out the window when we're enamored. [shrugs]

why would she said and then? ps doesn't make sense with an and before it... thus OP is a dumbass. Admittedly the girl was stupid for not including a verb. Oh hell, they're both stupid, they deserve each other!

#71 - On 10/12/2009 at 11:14am by Armin

It really is your fault for not knowing about the movie.
It only makes sense that the text was talking about it.
It would be too strange of a text otherwise.

#16 - On 10/11/2009 at 8:12pm by TheLetterZero

Are you serious? Not everyone cares to be "up to date" on movies. I didn't know what movie this was until looking it up. And since it seemed like it turned into a flop, I don't blame the OP for the miscommunication. It's the girls fault for not stating more clearly that she was watching a movie and assuming OP knew what she was talking about

#47 - On 10/12/2009 at 12:16am by gigi37

what did she say after that?

#17 - On 10/11/2009 at 8:12pm by Sece09

Girl: texting a ps.I love you
Guy: Ive loved u ever since i laid my eyes on u! Ur beautiful and funny and smart and i

awe.
at least she knows you like her now!
:)

#23 - On 10/11/2009 at 8:45pm by himiranda

awww that sucks, what did she say? you gotta tell a girl your feelings sometime, it's good to do that. it makes you a man, and it's just good to do. waitling forever isn't always good lol.

#24 - On 10/11/2009 at 8:47pm by Scotticus117

You remember that big monkey on your back? Well it's gone now. At least she knows how you feel.

YDI for liking a girl who has terrible taste in movies.

#27 - On 10/11/2009 at 9:25pm by wakawakawaka

Meant to happen. Don't keep that stuff a secret if it means something to you.

btw, dont drive and text...

#30 - On 10/11/2009 at 9:58pm by ToddSpald

damn , that sucks , i feel for you man . but hey , at least you told her how you feel . i wish i had the balls to do that , personally . its not your fault , how could you have known ? you took a shot and got owned , it happens , life goes on , try not to sweat it to much .

#31 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:10pm by roflmao91

omg this so happened to me sucked balls

#33 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:15pm by t_stephens67

This is a win, you don't want to date a girl who likes that movie. It's so bad, it gave me cancer.

#34 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:16pm by cooperisacat

"It gave me GENITIAL WORTS" "Gears of Halo Theft Auto 6"

#52 - On 10/12/2009 at 1:37am by YDIBITCHES

You can't expect ppl to know every movie. You especially can't expect a guy to know the name of every chick flick. That's just not fair.

#35 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:26pm by Jmido

that movie sucks ass, I'm serious!
pick a girl who likes better movies, i'm sorry that she fails at texting too.

#36 - On 10/11/2009 at 10:32pm by piano993

We have no idea if she liked the movie or not. All we know is that she was watching it with her friends. They might have all thought it sucked!

#55 - On 10/12/2009 at 3:16am by Kukua

Aww...I take it she didn't feel the same way as it's now on FML?
I'm sorry. :(

#37 - On 10/11/2009 at 11:00pm by xpxp2002

#38 are you stupid? That wasn't a jump to conclusion. He came to a valid conclusion. He wouldn't have known that she was watching a movie unless he's stalking her.

OP, FYL you got led on though.

#40 - On 10/11/2009 at 11:34pm by 2Chances2Fail

I agree with 38, actually.
When someone sent me a text message asking "do you like my vagina?" I looked it up as a song before assuming she was asking me if I liked hers.
You don't just assume she will randomly tell you she loves you.

#41 - On 10/11/2009 at 11:37pm by dudeitsdanny

#41 I don't think I'd do that. And some people do tell other people they love them out of the blue.

#42 - On 10/11/2009 at 11:43pm by 2Chances2Fail

#89, actually, I've been told that randomly before. People do it all the time. Like sometimes they'll be like, "Oh, by the way, I love you." and I'm just like "Wait, what?"
it's a common thing. but either way, it's jumping to a conclusion. and if you haven't heard of the movie, it's even easier to get confused.

OP: that sucks. I would've replied with "... That was really random... O.o" but that's just me....

#90 - On 10/12/2009 at 10:08pm by RazorFox16

Well, at least you got it out, rather than keeping it inside of you, and regretting not telling her for the rest of your life.

#43 - On 10/11/2009 at 11:54pm by iconoclasT

You shouldn't be telling your feelings for her through text in the first place, in person is classic and the manly way to do it.

#44 - On 10/12/2009 at 12:02am by ILoveK

hahahaha awwwww.

#46 - On 10/12/2009 at 12:07am by im_a_dinosaur

That's a good movie...but how is that an FML? The fact that she didn't say anything romantic back to you? She probably didn't know what to say =/ Or she was distracted by the hot Irish guys running around without shirts on =P

#48 - On 10/12/2009 at 12:29am by CFR

YDI

#49 - On 10/12/2009 at 1:21am by lmmmr

This is only an FML if she didn't feel the same, and even so, better you got it out then being stuck wondering.

#54 - On 10/12/2009 at 2:48am by harmonyGT

To all those people who say YDI for telling her how you feel over text.....I completely disagree. I"m not suggesting we should live our lives behind our gadgets, which seems to be the trend more and more, but there is nothing wrong with expressing yourself through the written word.

However, I do have an issue with people who use the written word vaguely, with bad grammar, missing words, and incorrect punctuation. Not only does it make it hard for people to understand the message you're trying to get across, but it makes you look uneducated.

If she had written "texting and watching 'PS I Love You'", without dropping random words and using quotation marks, this never would have been an issue.

#56 - On 10/12/2009 at 3:21am by Kukua

I'm a LITTLE more lenient about texts. I still try to use entire sentences and words, unless my text is going to be really freaking long. So I'm not as anal about people texting as I am about people on instant message or a blog.

I have to say though, while I might not have automatically gotten to the conclusion that she was watching a movie because of how she worded that, I can guaranteee I wouldn't have jumped to the "zomg she totally loves me!" conclusion. The wording was way too weird.

#58 - On 10/12/2009 at 3:56am by Pyrbaby

I knew it was the movie the moment I read it. And for all of you being so touchy over the matter- why? It's a waste to get all worked up over someone and their problems. RELAXXXX.

#60 - On 10/12/2009 at 7:49am by SamShakedown

It is very amusing to come on here and read everyone fighting about every little thing.

"OMG, your opinion is different from mine!?!?!?! You're stupid!!"

"WTF?? Your grammar sucks!! Here, let me show you how bad my grammar is while trying to call you out on yours."

"OP, You deserve it because my life sucks and I'm very insecure!"

Thank you all for bringing me amusement every day!! :-D

#61 - On 10/12/2009 at 8:04am by j_rock1981

It could have been worse. Imagine what OP would have done if the ladies were watching "Feel Up My Ass"

#63 - On 10/12/2009 at 8:54am by Cozzies

Haha awesome. Dude don't worry did the exact same thing earlier this week. Got some joke message from a girl i fancied that ended in asking me whether i like pepsi or coke better or something. Should've known it was an evil hoax. Point is, I spilt my guts about her. Key is not to deny but to outline your humiliation with grace. make some token joke about feeling like ben stiller in one of his hideous romantic comedies. You'll still be a loser in her eyes though so, you know, learn to ride a motorbike or pick up boxing. But at least it won't be weird between you two love-birds.
