I agree with #92. I fail to see how MJ's death is a more significant event in the OP's life than his ENGAGEMENT. If it was a close friend or family member, that would be different. The more recent trial found him not guilty- and I don't disagree, that family seemed out for money more than anything (the mom was a real piece of work). But the earlier 80's trial? They settled that one out of court. That's different than not guilty. It's a way to make it go away without admitting guilt or proclaiming innocence. Just sayin'.

I'm not a Michael Jackson fan, I don't even like him, but I can see where your parents are coming from if they were a big fan of his. His death was unexpected, and he was someone that really changed the music industry. The only singer that comes close to him is Elvis. Your parents obviously didn't know him personally, but people don't have to know someone to feel a connection to them on some level. Just look at all the screaming people at concerts with the "I love you" signs. The most recent person before him that caused such a stir around the world that I can think of is Princess Diana (Heath Ledger aside; he had some good movies but wasn't on the same level as these two). I'm very disappointed in the comments claiming that you deserved this. And also disappointed in the arguments over whether or not Michael Jackson deserved to die. That's not the point here- I understand being upset, but life does go on outside of Hollywood's tragedies.
