You never know

Today, I was fired for not asking a senior citizen for proof that he was over 21 and legally allowed to purchase alcohol. When I told my manager he was clearly over 21, he replied, "But what if he WASN'T?" FML

#3, you're thinking about company policies on carding, not the law. The OP has no grounds for a lawsuit, labor laws in the US (even California, where the OP is) are nearly completely in favor of employers.

obviously, it was two underage little people in a trench coat....

policy is policy. what about when jackass used makeup to look like old people? whether its stupid or not rules are rules

it's not unlawful termination, stop being dumb.

I did hear about good old age makeup that can fool anyone (thank you several years of watching Face Off) but your boss obviously has some issues. Sorry you had to go through that OP, be glad you got out of there!

always remember the curious case of Benjamin button

Sounds like somebody's been listening to Alphaville - Forever young a bit too much lately. Time someone bursts his bubble and tells him it isn't meant to be taken literally. Your former boss is an ass.

Most are at will states, meaning that they don't need any reason to fire you. Only if it's for reasons of sex, religion, or race is it illegal.

I always asked cause it made some smile :3

1) he was dumb for firing for it but 2) i do know at some places they have to swipe the id in the computer so that's a case of can't take your word for it
