Today, I came downstairs disappointed thinking that my parents had forgotten my birthday. Turns out they didn't forget, they just couldn't be bothered to do anything for it. FML

Because when people say "can't be arsed" there are too many confused questions from people like you. "Can't be bothered" is not even a particularly British turn of phrase.

How old are you, OP? Over 16? Maybe you are old enough to start the day by thanking your parents for bringing you into the world and finish it by celebrating with friends. Birthdays are personal holidays so stop putting those expectations on others. I'm not saying they are the kindest parents but they are who they are and at some point you need to forgive mummy abd daddy and branch out on your own.
