Today, while working at Wendy's my boss approached me and told me the District Manager wanted to talk to me. I had been given a substantial raise the day before so I thought he was going to promote me to manager. Wrong, he told me I was being fired for eating a 99 cent cheeseburger. FML

Clear some things up. I had been working there for 4 1/2 years. Everyone at the store eats on the job and I was the only one to get fired. Never had any disiplinary problems before. The Store owners 14 year old son saw me eat the burger while working and told his dad who in turn told the DM. My regular manager didnt even know about it and was as blindsided as me. I offered to pay for the burger even double or triple for it but my DM could not see it any other way and canned my ass. O well. FML

You mean you can get fired for stealing from your job? THIS IS NEWS!

Seems a gray area to me. It's bullshit to be fired for such a trivial thing, though since you got your raise, wouldn't you have been able to afford to purchase the cheeseburger?

I've worked fast food before and I can attest to how arbitrary and petty the management likes to be at times, however, if you were pretty open about taking the burger and eating it, then I can't say much in your defense.

I call BS. Wendy's doesn't give substantial raises.

Why didn't you say that in the first place?

That's shitty. Everyone in food service gets some food sometimes. Even if you aren't given a shift meal you should still be allowed to eat something. Sorry that happened but I hope you moved on to something better.

Even in a work line like that, I'm pretty certain you're supposed to let someone know you're taking it or that you're paying for it while on duty.

Did you pay for it? If not even if it was a penny,it's still technically theft. So YDI if you didn't pay for it

Oh please. I work at Wendy's and nobody hypes over food. I took 3 apple juices and some nuggets home from work one time. I had no money and another manager added it to her meal the next day for me. I feel OP's pain.

#35, apparently this was all for some other reason and the tasty, tasty Jr. Bacon Cheesburger was just a tasty excuse to can you.... tasty. /Tasty.

After I read "Today, while working at Wendy's" I was already ready to click "I agree, your life is f***ed"...I still did by the way.

So... how many people are going to end up at Wendy's today because of this FML? (I'm going to assume rukusrazor is already on his way).

*******-a right! No doubt I'm going to Wendy's for lunch.

This might have also read, "Today, I worked at Wendy's. FML"

hahaha! Today, I wrote an FML about being fired from Wendy's and, somehow, it turned into a commercial for junior bacon cheeseburgers. Now everyone will patronize the establishment I hate. Double FML.
