I think a lot of people are forgetting, that for every woman that proposes and runs into something like this, there many more guys that encounter a similar scenario. It doesn't really make a difference that he's a guy being asked, or she's a girl on one knee. People are people, and sometimes humans aren't ready for that kind of commitment.
