Today, I worked up the confidence to go to the mall alone for the first time since being confined to a wheelchair. It didn't even take 20 minutes before some teenager grabbed my wheelchair and tried to race me around, all while his friends watched and laughed. FML

Today, while walking in the mall, I had two people race past me in wheelchairs. Thinking they were racing, I started rooting for the one guy that was ahead. Turns out his wheelchair was malfunctioning and the other was chasing after to help. He then slammed and fell into the water fountain. FML

Today, I went on a field trip with some people from school. I'm currently confined to a wheelchair, so I had to rely on my sister to get around. She eventually went off with her friends, assuming that the people nearby would keep me company. Five minutes later, they'd all left me. FML

Today, at the age of 16, I'm recovering from hip surgery. My friends took me out to the movies to cheer me up. They thought it would be hilarious to steal my crutches and leave me stranded and alone in the mall, multiple times. It wasn't. FML

Today, I went to a bar which has two stories. I was on the top floor and then went downstairs. As I was going down, I recognised a boy in a wheelchair and his friends trying to get him up. I helped and took the wheelchair. One of his friends decided it would be a good moment to steal my wallet. FML

Today, I was at the Salvation Army when I saw a wheelchair in the miscellaneous aisle. I thought it would be fun to ride around in it. As I was wheeling it back to where I found it, I made it back just as it's owner was hobbling out of the dressing room. FML

Today, I was at Walmart. A guy in a mobility scooter bumped into me, then told me to "get the fuck out of the way." When I told him to watch his mouth, he got up and shoved me into a shelf. Just a few minutes prior, he'd yelled that he was paralyzed from the waist down. FML

Today, a guy grabbed my ass at the mall. I whirled around and went to sock him. He ducked and I accidentally hit the elderly woman standing behind him in the face. To say all hell broke loose would be an understatement. FML

Actually call the cops. In most areas, this may be a disability hate-crime. A blind friend of mine recently was unable to work for a week, because someone grabbed their cane, and badly sprained their wrist on the strap as they ripped it away.

How did your friend laugh, if you went alone? Maybe she was a bystander, but if so, how could you know it was your friend, instead of a random spectator, it sounded like it happened super fast. All's I'm saying is that there's a hole in the story, and believe it or not, not every FML is real.

Your first mistake was putting faith in humanity/society/others to begin with. We are all people. Every bit as flawed and imperfect as you are. Some of us even more so. You're only setting yourself up for failure and disappointment every time you do, so simply don't expect the best of anyone. Then, when someone does prove to be a cut above, you'll always be pleasantly surprised.

Get some pepper spray and/or a stun gun, no one is allowed to touch you or your chair without you permission. I would think that getting maced in the face or juiced with a taser would be quite a deterrent for next time. Don't let anybody **** with you!
