Today, I took my son for a walk to tell him about the passing of our family dog. As we were walking by the river, Ozzy (our deceased dog) was laying on the riverbank. My son thought he just ran away and we found him. Turns out my husband was too cheap to pay the 100$ vet disposal fees. FML

1st - I feel terrible for your son! 2nd - I feel terrible for YOU for having to be tehre when he witnessed this. 3rd - I'd make your HUSBAND explain to your son exacty why he was too selfish to cover the costs of the basics adn why he didn't care about your son enough to do things right. Seriously. He disgusts me.

...your husband didn't want to pay to fees AND he didn't even bother burying him? That's ridiculous. I agree with #3 - make HIM explain.

Just bury the damn dog. These are hard times, so it's understandable why he wanted to save money. Not that this justifies dumping a dead dog out in the open.

Who ever said "get a divorce" should go shove a sharpened pencil up their asses. There can be many explenations to this and I wouldn't pay $100 for a dead dog. He's not a human and he's dead for God's sake. But I would bury him somewhere. #32 is a very reasonable explination.

Your husband is an idiot. If he can't pay the fees, he should have BURIED the dog. I'm sorry you and your kid had to go through that.

That is so sad! Burying the dog isn't that hard, and it can be a nice ceremony for the family. That's what we always did. I would be so pissed I can't even imagine! Your poor son... wow.

This is grounds for divorce...to me.

#109: remember what the point of the walk was?

122, have you ever buried a dog by yourself, properly? and all you other people saying its grounds for divorce, i sure hope your relationship doesn't get ended over some petty matter like this. Although i do agree that it was a messed up way to dispose of a dog. Everyone calling him cheap, get a freaking job and figure out what it takes to make a hundred bucks in this world. it takes me a whole week, granted, I am a student and working 25 hours at least a week on top of classes. But shit, get off your high horses and learn that a Benjamin isn't that easy to come by. P.S. I have two dogs, and our other one passed away a couple months ago. My father is in too much pain to dig 3 feet deep to make sure the other neighborhood animals don't dig it up and have to see a half eaten half rotten dog in the yard. Needless to say they took the dog out to my uncle's farm and used a back hoe to do the deed. But Switch and Toggle are still alive and kicking and are probably my greatest loves in this world outside of my species. Thank you

To all the people saying "It's just a dog," 1) Humans are animals. Get used to it. It's called "SCIENCE." 2) Dogs are part of the family as numerous posters have said. They deserve the same amount of respect as other family members. If the parents had a stillborn baby and just tossed it in the trash, all the people who would have said "It's just a dog" would be in an uproar. And done.

Only a brain dead imbecile with no grasp of reality would completely equate human life with animal life. Science has nothing to do with value of life. That's morals. And since you seem to not believe in things like morals, why would you even give a shit what happens to the dog or anybody else?

#25 you're an asshole you have no idea how hard vet school is, it's just as difficult if not more so than medical school. to the op, that really sucks. hopefully he has a good reason, but probably not.
