Today, I told my mom I want to try out for American Idol. She responded with, "You don't take disappointment well." FML
I agree, your life sucks 16 352
You deserved it 30 848

Sucks, but sometimes honesty IS the best policy. Better your mom telling you than Simon Cowell telling the world, eh?

Statistically speaking, you probably got one in a million, literally. When you watch the show, they only show the "weird" ones, but in reality, most people don't make it. However, don't let that keep you from you dreams. If you like singing, definitely give it a shot. The worst thing that will happen is that they'll say no. But even then, it just depends on how you take it as.

Listen, you think those shows are tough on adults? Look up the next star.

Alot of people dont even try to record themselves singing. That could save a lot of heart ache for bad singers with superiority complexes.

at least she was honest with you. I hate those families who lie to their children and let them go on the show even though they know they cant sing. she saved you from public ridicule. you should thank her.

They're usually the families that think they can sing.

don't even worry about that American Idol only cares about getting viewers; I know a lot of really good people who didn't get in. so your mom may have been speaking the truth there

big whoop, its not that big of a deal

it doesnt hurt to try, but seriously, i agree with #5 i didnt interpret what ur mom had said as an insult. she just pointed out that ur not prepared to accept the worst, a quality every competitor in any competition must have. point proven with this fml posted. but dont let that kill ur hopes and dreams and go for it.
