Today, I met someone who works in radio advertising. Making conversation, I described an ad that I can't stand. He wrote it. FML

I would not say you deserved that one, but it is always good to start conversations with talking about something you do like, rather than something you don't like. Good luck

Maybe he'll take your opinion in consideration and try to make a better ad.

Constructive criticism, am I right?

hm, every radio station I've ever listened to plays ads, are you suggesting normal people constantly change station every time an ad starts?

There's no convincing way to fix that... Sorry OP

As someone who works in radio, an ad you hate isn't always a bad thing. You remembered it and were talking about it... Which is what any advertiser would want. Lots of companies make purposely bad ads.

That's why i make a point of getting to know someone before openly bashing things. a simple "so what kind of projects have you done recently?", or some question along those lines, before that remark would've saved you an FML

As someone who works in radio I can confidently agree that ALL agency-written radio ads are garbage, and everyone who works in radio is confident that we are all better at everything than everyone else in radio.

Say "No kidding? What else have you done lately?" Get the person discussing other work. Hope you didn't rail on it too long.
