Today, I went to buy beer underage for a party to impress a girl. I picked up the case of beer and went to the cashier, he ran it through without asking for ID. I left the store with a smirk on my face, I arrived at the party and showed the case to the girl. It was non-alcoholic. FML

Today, I was working at the local liquor store. An obviously drunk girl stumbles in, grabs two cases of beer and puts them on the counter. Then she grabs a pregnancy test, pees on it right there, shows me, and says, "I'm not pregnant, I want beer." FML

Today, when I went to the gas station to buy beer, some underage punk outside asked me to buy him booze. I told him to get bent, but the dumbass cashier had seen me talking to him, and refused to let me buy alcohol because, "This is obviously a sting." FML

Today, I went to a bar to celebrate my 26th birthday. I got ripped off by the bartender all night because she secretly gave me non-alcoholic versions of my drinks. Apparently I look like I'm 16, so she thought my ID was fake. Happy birthday to me. FML

Today, I tried buying alcohol for the first time. I have a baby face, so I had my ID ready. The store owner admitted that my ID looked real enough, but he wouldn't believe it wasn't just an elaborate fake. He very nearly called the cops on me. FML

Today, I threw a birthday party for my boyfriend. As a joke, my friend and I served him non-alcoholic beer to see how he'd react. After a while, he faked being drunk, using it as an excuse after I caught him making out with one of my so-called "friends". FML

Today, I bought a small bottle of liquor to share with my husband to celebrate our move. It took three hours at the store as the cashier, manager, GM, and a police officer checked my ID believing it was fake. I'm 25. FML

Today, my friends and I went out for drinks. I'm the only one who's actually 21 or over, and they have fake IDs. Not only was I the only one to be carded, the bartender thought that my actual ID was fake. I got kicked out while my friends kept drinking. FML

Today, I went to the bar to celebrate my friend's birthday party. I gave the bouncer my ID and he kicked me out, saying that I should at least use an ID card with the correct gender. I'm 22 and female, he thought I was an underage boy. FML

Today, I sold a customer some beer. He then asked to see the manager, and told me he was a 19 year-old undercover cop. My knee jerk reaction was to panic and curse aloud, before realizing he was balding, toothless, probably 50, certainly not a cop, and laughing at me for being such a gullible moron. FML

Guys, I don't think he's stupid for trying to get alcohol underage. None of you tried alcohol before you were of legal age? Really? I'm sure nobody went to parties and had alcohol act as a social lubricant either. Come on, he did a common thing. Soooo many people try to get into bars with fakes, buy alcohol or cigarettes with fakes, it happens, he's not an idiot. I say rip off the labels or go to a different store and buy new beer.

The problem isn't that he bought alcohol, it's that he tried to impress a girl with it. From personal experience I thought the same thing in high school. If I brought beer I'd be in the "in" crowd and be more popular since I could get alcohol. Guess what, after I brought a lot of alcohol once I had a lot of people asking me to get them alcohol for other parties and that was about it. If I didn't I couldn't come. I became the mule. Plus a lot of the parties sucks anyways (everyone too worried about their image to get wasted and shit like that).

I don't know what state you live in, but in Wisconsin (#1 state for just about everything related to the consumption of alcohol) you still need to be 21 to buy non-alcoholic beer.

Unless it's incredibly obvious that you're over 21, you're never not carded for buying alcohol at a store. Ever. The point-of-sale software in pretty much every store prompts the cashier to check your ID to verify your birthday, not to mention that selling to minors is extremely illegal. In short, it is never in the store's advantage to let you buy beer unless they are positive you are 21+. In any event, how the hell do you not notice the difference between NA beer and regular beer? It's right on the damn label. It's a damn shame that you bought NA beer, because it would have been priceless when you got busted. YDI for being a ******* and hubris ("I left the store with a smirk on my face" - thinking you tricked the cashier with your "rugged manliness" sure must have felt good, didn't it?) @26 to be fair, non-alcoholic beer doesn't mean it has 0% alcohol - it just means the ABV is very low (generally less than 0.5%). Texas is still crazy, but not for this reason. @39, **** yeah, Wisconsin!
