Panic!

By daybyday - 22/11/2011 08:08 - Australia

Today, I found out that what I thought could be a life-threatening issue causing me chest pains was only because I over-obsessed about it. Now not only do I have social anxiety, but I get so anxious I can create fake illnesses. FML

Anxiety is dangerous, overthinking and obsessing can cause serious problems. Sit back and relax OP.

Oh, chest pains. Why, I remember in my day how I used to have random heart aches for no apparent reason. It felt like I was just dumped but I was single... Nobody gives a damn on FML, though, so I'll just do it for you. "Cool story, bro"

I have done this :/ I convinced myself I was going to die. Hypochondria as its finest...

It is a very common thing actually. It sucks when it happens, I know I have it too. One of the best things you can do to help it get better is meditation/breathing exercises or to get the same result in breathing, sing or read out loud. Breathing is the key to calming the body down and getting rid of the pains.

Agreed. Whether therapy or drugs will help you really depends on your situation, but breathing/meditation should at least alleviate your symptoms while you get things figured out.

Yeah I've done that before. I was told my chest pains were from anxiety, from stressing about my "illness"

Yer I had that too I got stomach aches through but once I started taking Zoloft I felt better go to your doctor and ask if you should take something. It really does help.

its ok to b anxious and we all create psychosematic illnesses in our lives. don't worry. try talking to a psychologist (not a psychiatrist)

It's called a placebo, if your mind completely believes its sick, it will generate an illness on its own. It's quite amazing actually

Sorry to say Johnnyboy but that is not what a placebo is! Perhaps hypochondriasis is the word you are looking for, but placebo definitively not!!!
