No thanks

Today, I overheard my school counselor mentioning that community service is required to graduate. As a Senior who is a good, well-behaved student, but rarely leaves my house due to social anxiety and hearing problems, this is kind of a HUGE problem. And no, nobody else ever told me about this until now. FML

Go to your counselor. Ask them what are the options you have, i.e. what are the exact requirements and are there different tasks that will fall under them. trash pickup or time spent at a elderly village etc. and time constraint’s to meet them. Then speak to your best friend and explain to them. I’m sure they’ll be happy to join you. Good luck

Get with a community group like the Rotary club. they often have programs that you can do solo. Such as my local club has a patriotic flag project where they put flags out at residences for major holidays. You can do this by yourself and maybe get the credit. Another option is to email the local Parks and Rec office and see if you can go clean up some local parks and have them sign off on service hours. you can clean when parks are not as busy and avoid too many people.

That's the perfect advice! If your guidance counselor is any good, they will try to find a way to help you that's as painless as possible for you! Good luck!

You have hearing problems, yet you "overheard" your counselor? Nope. Not buying it.

Maybe it's hyperacousy? Hearing too well can be a problem.

Ask at your local library if there’s anything you can do. They love volunteers and can probably find some solo projects for you to do.

Maybe someone told you and you just didn’t hear them.
