Masturbating is a normal activity we all do. Most of us at least. No reason to feel “violated”. Get into the habit of knocking or otherwise making your presence known before you enter a room where your Mother may be.

I agree with half your statement. yes, op should've knocked, without a doubt, and yes masturbation is normal. but I disagree, op should feel violated because OP's eyes were violated. how would you feel walking if you walked in on either parent or any older family member masturbating? and don't tell me you wouldn't cuz you'd knock, that's not the point. you'd feel violated and uncomfortable too
