Goodbye, I guess

Today, I tried to plan a date with five colleagues for a goodbye-drink together, since I'm leaving the team after two and a half years. They told me it was going to be difficult to pick a date that suited everybody, so they already took into account that it won't be happening. When another colleague left, we went out for dinner. FML

It always hurts a little when you leave a company, group, or assignment and no one seems to have cared that you were leaving… But it’s human nature, people at work are usually forward thinking of what they have to do now or later. But you are leaving and you are thinking of the past… While sometimes we make friends through work, most of the time they are more colleges than friends. The relationship does not exist outside outside work and once you are not on the team it can sometimes be as if you don’t exist… That’s part of why it’s important to get along with the people you work with, but don’t assume they are your friends.
