Today, on the way out to buy groceries, my boyfriend asked if I'd like him to buy some of my favourite flowers. Happy with his rare show of affection, I said yes. When he returned, he gave me a bag of our usual brand of flour and laughed hysterically in my face. FML

Today, I bought flowers with my groceries at the grocery store. After the cashier scanned them, he handed them back to me so they wouldn't get crushed in my cart. It was then that I realized he's the first man to ever hand me flowers. FML

You guys are insane if you think the OP needs to break up with her boyfriend for this. It was just a harmless prank. Flowers are a nice gesture but I think some people put WAY too much stock into little things like that.

Maybe I am too serious, but I just don't get what is so funny about this prank. It just sounds rude to me. Also, OP, you said "rare show of affection"? So does that mean he doesn't usually go out of his way to be affectionate towards you? I don't know about everybody else here, but to me, the little day-to-day things, the small gestures are just as, if not much more important than the big events. If he rarely shows you that he cares for you, and the one time you think he will, he makes a joke about it, then perhaps you should have a talk with him. Maybe figure out what his definition of going out of your way for someone means, because obviously, it's not the same as your's. Don't get me wrong, I think it's incredibly important to have humor in a relationship, but it's also important (at least for some like me) to show your S.O. that you care.
