Family dinner [gone racist]

Today, I brought my Japanese girlfriend home for dinner with my family for the first time. They all got drunk and made heaps of racist jokes right in front of us. My dad forgot her name and started calling her "Rice Ball" instead. FML

That's horrible OP, I'm sorry! Talk to them and make them apologize, that's just downright disrespectful.

Wow... I'm literally speechless. Try and get them to apologize because that's totally unacceptable.

Omg! that's just rude and disrespectful! they better apologize, & I hope everything is okay with you're girlfriend....

That sounds like something my dad would do, but I wouldn't just sit there and take it, I would have told him to shut the hell up. I hope you did too OP.

Most asian women I have seen are very pretty and have near perfect skin with not one pimple or enlarged pore. Your family is a bunch of bigots. I also cant believe you let her sit there and listen to all of their hatred spewed at her. Why didnt you speak up, tell them off and take her someplace else to dinner? If you are old enough, I wouldnt even bother visiting for a long time.

Oh the tears of pure joy... bit that was pretty rude if you take in the fact that it was her first time at your house.

That's horrible I have met Bfs family's for the first time and had them make horrible comments about me... It's a terrible thing to have to go through

My husband is Japanese and mother made a stupid comment one time and I about shot my pants and told her I was leaving but my husband was very patient and tried to fix their perceptions vs running from them. Hope fully your girlfriend can understand and maybe have a talk with the co

That really sucks OP, hopefully they've apologised to you both. At least they were jokes and not anything more aggressive.
