Sounds like he's worried your prioritizing being physically attractive to him over hygiene. Or I choose to interpret it that way. Either way, cleaning up your room if it is a huge mess doesn't cost you much except some time and energy. That said, if those are precious resources to you because of chronic illness... he can come help clean up if it bothers him so much.
