What is wrong with you?
Today, I had to take my daughter home from school because she had been caught flashing the boys during class. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't an appropriate way to act or behave but she interrupted me, "Mom, you don't even understand." You're right. I don't. FML

What I would give to hear this discussion... It's more common than you think...concerts there is a lot of that going on...but still if she should actually have some respect for herself...

This needs a follow up for the daughter's age.

Did you bother to let her explain? For all you know, things may not have been what they seemed.

I believe her explanation was. "You just don't understand"

Sorry but to me this sounds like a teenager that did it just for the attention!

**** star in the making! But seriously, your daughter should know it is not right by any circumstance to flash others.

How old is your daughter I think is the big question here...

You were told she was flashing. You dressed her down for it. She says you don't understand. i didn't see the bit where you asked her about the truth of the allegation, the full circumstances or her reasoning.

So are you suggesting that there are appropriate reasons and/or circumstances for a child to expose themselves to their classmates in the middle of class? Please do enlighten us, because try as I might I can't think of any.

No, I'm not suggesting that. I most certainly am suggesting that someone might be leaping to wrong conclusions, and oh look, you just did. The point is obvious. Why does the mother assume she's heard the full story just because the school told it to her? Classmates sometimes lie, teachers sometimes mistake students, wardrobe malfunctions sometimes genuinely happen, stories sometimes get exaggerated. 'Telegraph' from maybe student to teacher to headmaster to secretary to mother can misreport things. When the daughter replies "Mum you just don't understand." It's perfectly possible that the mother doesn't understand. Where is the bit where the mother asked about the truth of the claim, the full circumstances or her daughter's reasoning? Without that information, the mother does not understand, even if it turns out the school was telling the full truth. At the end of the day it might turn out that the daughter's behaviour was actually inappropriate- but you can't claim to understand if you have no idea what the student meant to happen, what she thinks happened, and what it looked like from her perspective.

I hope you have listened to her side as to why and actually what she did before lecturing her about being inappropriate. Would be nice to see a followup on what her actual reasoning was.
