Today, my 19-year-old best friend decided she's going to elope with her 30-year-old, alcoholic boyfriend, who she's only been dating for 5 months. She wants me to go with her and be her maid of honor. She says she'll never speak to me again if I don't support her terrible decision. FML

Today, my best friend of over 16 years is getting married. I was supposed to be her Maid of Honor. Instead I was uninvited a few weeks ago. FML
Today, my maid of honor and best friend of 10 years won't answer my texts and blocked me on social media. This is because last night she and my fiancé got into a huge drunken fight about who loved me more and she stormed off. I get married in 5 hours and I have no idea where she is. FML
Today, my best friend refuses to attend my wedding, all because I’m marrying her ex. He left her for me but didn’t cheat. We just fell in love and he had the decency to leave the relationship before starting to date me. She refuses to understand that no matter how hard I try to explain. FML
Today, I was invited to my friend's wedding. I wouldn't mind, but she chose her now fiancé over me, despite him being in prison for assault, a heroin addict and a general dick. This was all because I accidentally called her stupid three years ago. FML
Today, I overheard my best friend laughing and calling my fiance lame and stupid, all because he proposed to me with a bouquet instead of a ring. And here I was about to ask if she would be my maid of honor… FML
Today, my best friend got engaged. I would be happy for her, if it wasn’t for the fact that her fiancé was my boyfriend just 2 months ago. Upon hearing the news, I severed all ties with her. She ended up bitching me out and calling me selfish for being upset. FML
Today, my best friend got engaged to the guy she's been seeing for five years. He also happens to be the man I've been in love with for eight. As she was giving me the details, she nonchalantly gave me her reason for accepting the proposal: "Why the hell not, there's always divorce." FML
Today, my fiancé's best friend, who will be our best man at our wedding, decided to confess his feelings for me and tell me how he's always dreamed of us eloping together. The wedding is going to be awkward. FML
Today, I married my best friend in the whole world at a small romantic venue. By that I mean I married my actual best mate while completely hammered at a drive-through wedding chapel. My fiancée is gonna kill me when she finds out. FML
Today, an attention-seeking weirdo who thinks she's my friend asked me who was going to be the maid of honour at my wedding. Knowing what she was really asking, I said I just want a small, non-fancy wedding without bridesmaids. She broke down into a sobbing mess in front of me. FML

I've been there and I've supported the terrible idea, making my concerns known, and I was still there when it fell apart. You can't stop her from doing what she'll do, but if you care about her you'll remain in a position to be there when she needs you.

I've been there and I've supported the terrible idea, making my concerns known, and I was still there when it fell apart. You can't stop her from doing what she'll do, but if you care about her you'll remain in a position to be there when she needs you.

There's no reason to "Be there," as a maid of honor. Perhaps just be there when the whole thing falls apart. Though, she sounds too stupid to be friends with. Perhaps you'd be better off moving on to more mature friends.

I’m in the same position as you with an immature friend the same age, except for her trashy boyfriends never stay long enough to actually commit. She’s going to continue to make dumb decisions like this until she grows up. The best thing to do is to just let her know you think it’s a bad idea, but just accept that this is the kind of person she is.

Length of dating is irrelevant as well as age. I'm assuming he treats her like shit? And is he getting help for his alcoholism? If he treats her like shit and isn't getting help, tell her "I love you and can't honor this .." and tell her why. IF he's treating her right and getting help, be her maid of honor.
