Today, while studying liver pathology and highlighting important lines in my textbook, I realized that I could count the number of words I hadn't highlighted on one hand, over the last six pages. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I checked over my notes from yesterday's midterm review so I could study for the test on Monday. It seems I was so exhausted, I'd done nothing but scribble unintelligibly all over the first page. FML
Classic rookie mistake
Today, I was taking a test and thought I was doing great until I realized I was writing all my answers on the question paper, not the answer sheet. By the time I noticed, there were only five minutes left. FML
Who else can relate?
Today, my OCD reached a new high when I used a correction pen to white-out an eyelash which was photocopied onto every single page of my reading material. I did it because the eyelash was too distracting and I couldn't finish reading the article without the urge to rip it into shreds. FML
Today, I just studied for 13.5 hours completely outlining a book for history. Thirty minutes before the test, I realized I had been reading the wrong book. FML
Today, I realized how much I'm on the computer. I tried to "CTRL+Z" on something I wrote down on my paper. FML
Today, I was reviewing for a major nursing school exam I have this week. I panicked because none of the material seemed familiar, and figured that I must've missed something during class and now had to catch up. After 4 hours, I finally realized that I'd been studying from the wrong textbook. FML
Shorty-Greasy Spot-Spot
Today, while studying with the girl I like, I rested my face on my book, pretending to be frustrated. When I lifted my head, I realized I'd left a greasy spot on the page from my nose. She noticed. FML
Today, I submitted my 5000 word assignment. When I got home, my mother asked if I'd checked it through one more time like she always warned me to do. I hadn't, therefore hadn't noticed the paragraph on page 11 that she'd written, telling me to pay attention to the small details. FML
Today, while correcting essays, I spilled ketchup on a student's paper. I managed to successfully turn it into a happy smiley face but when proudly looking at the result, noticed it was right next to the big "F" that I had graded it. FML
Today, I got back my math test. Instead of taking the time to mark the mistakes, my professor just circled the bottom half of the page and wrote "OMG." FML

Uugh I hate it when that happens!

Just go on and highlight the book at this point. It's all kind of important.

Med school rules: Rule #1: MEMORISE EVERYTHING. Rule #2: Eat when you can. Rule #3: Sleep when you can. Rule #4: Don't eat in the gross anatomy lab. Remember all that and you'll be fine.

Pretty much what the doc is saying is as follows: Social life Sleep Good grades Choose two.

Ah yes, highlighter happiness. I have a few sections in my textbook that look similar. Sometimes it simply cannot be prevented...

I don't highlight anything, because I WON'T BE PART OF THE SYSTEM MAN!!

It really can be prevented. Excessive highlighting is an extremely bad study habit.

63- That's why I said "sometimes" rather than "ALWAYS"

Whoa everything must be important then :P Study hard OP!

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of highlighting?

get a new study method. like what one comment above said, highlight the unimportant things.

Or maybe only the really important words and phrases could be highlighted...? Highlighting unimportant phases is counterproductive. Don't do that. Avoid highlighting the words "the" and "and".

read it all first. then highlight the things you don't quite know yet
Dilwann 27
Indeed. Read first, then highlight the main points. Not everything you need to know. This is not 'med school' - any kind of study is capable of being completely highlighted - this is you not being an efficient student.

Med school makes me think of the rookies in Chicago Trauma. Pretty intense moments.
