Today, while sitting down on the dentist's chair, the tooth to be removed came out on its own. I still had to pay $50 for the cotton and advice. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my dentist pulled the wrong tooth. FML
Today, I went to the dentist to get a baby tooth which had decayed removed. After almost an hour, I came out with a numb mouth and a missing tooth for life. It was not a baby tooth. FML
Today, I went to the dentist. I had to get a tooth removed. In the middle of the procedure, the power went out. I had to sit there for an hour to wait for it to come back on. The anesthetic wore off before he started working on me again. FML
Today, I went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled. When I woke up I found out they pulled the wrong one. FML
Worst teeth in the game
Today, I canceled my dental check-up because I'm getting busy at work. Then, as I was flossing, my finger slipped, I heard a "crunch" from one of my fillings, and I now have a killer toothache. It's costing me double to go to the dentist because it's now an emergency call. FML
Drilled
Today, I was having drilling work done on my teeth. My dentist slipped and drilled a hole in my cheek. I said mistakes happen, but that I didn't expect to pay for the work. They still billed me for it and sent me a prescription that I had to go and get (and pay for) in case it got infected. FML
No pain, no gain
Today, I went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. The numbing medication didn't work, so I felt everything. I was in so much pain that I accidentally bit down on the dentist's finger, causing him to yell in agony. Now, I have to find a new dentist. FML
Snap!
Today, I was flossing my teeth, which I do only to not get yelled at (chewed out?) by my dentist. Dentist I’ll now be seeing later today because the floss broke off a corner of one of my molars. FML
Free healthcare when?
Today, my dentist called and told me that the surgery to remove my wisdom teeth - which I desperately need and saved for a year to be able to afford - will actually cost nearly $2000 more than originally stated. The surgery is supposed to be in three days. FML
Today, at the dentist, the new, rather airy assistant went to prep me for an extraction. She began pulling on something in my mouth, and a moment later, I felt intense pain and then the wetness of blood. She was trying to pull out "that weird wire thing". In other words, my permanent retainer. FML

Yeah that's super annoying. I had to get braces and needed to remove 4 teeth. The dentist made me pay $150 each for three of them. The fourth one? $250. Why? Because he had to "pull harder" to take it out. It was absolute nonsense.

They actually wrote a law for situations such as this, but I hear the enforcement was toothless.

This move is known as the "reverse tooth-fairy" in the dental community. It's not nearly as sexual as it sounds.

That's really rotten -they'll charge you for anything.

No, They'll charge you for dental services.

And charge you for the appointment which someone else could have had. Time is money :P

Pretty sure that's illegal, aren't dentists paid by labor plus a set wage?
QueenSaru 28
It's probably not illegal. In the same way you can be charged for a no-call/no-show at an appointment because they've lost any revenue with not using that appointment slot.

This makes me glad my braces and dental care was covered by the NHS at the time, I had two teeth removed for free. When I was a kid I needed 7 baby teeth removed and they took me to hospital for it. Now I'm paying normal prices, a visit to the hygienist seems extortionate. £200 for a filling, and it doesn't help that a new guy has taken over at my dentist and increased the prices massively.

$150 for an extraction would be called a simple extraction. $250 for an extraction would be called a surgical extraction. We choose our professions, can't be angry we go by a standard guideline of costs for procedures. Overhead & employee pay alone to run an office takes like 350 of those surgical extractions. Plus it's part of your health!

The stress of going to the dentist probably drove your tooth to jump out of your head. The dentist earned his keep!

At least it's not $1500 plus insurance like I paid cuz my crown came off and broke one of my tooth that was attached too. So $50 your off easy.
