Today, while I was doing my job as a groundskeeper, a couple of kids wearing MAGA hats threw garbage and rocks at me, then told me to "go back where you came from". I'm American, but I guess my beard makes me look like an immigrant or something, as this isn't the first time this has happened. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, a man I don't know came up to me and started screaming about how "all you damn Mexicans were stealing American's jobs" and he stormed off. I'm Native American, and I'm pretty sure we've been here longer. FML
Today, two American guys attacked me for not speaking their language. I'm from England, and they said I'm speaking my own language wrong. FML
Today, I was cleaning up litter from the street, when a guy asked who I work for. I said nobody and that I was just doing some community service. Before I could clarify that it was voluntary community service, he called me a "piece of shit delinquent", spat on me, and walked off. FML
Today, I'm a gay, black man who moved to a racist, mainly white, homophobic town for work. I've already had the cops called on me twice, and a group of teens yelled the f-slur at me unprompted. When I asked my boss if I could swap, he threatened to fire me. This is gonna be a long 6 months. FML
Today, I was refused service at a bakery, got yelled and cussed at to the point of tears, and told to go back to my home country, Ukraine. According to the guy, my people are Nazis who spent the past year draining Americans of their tax dollars to fund their war. I couldn’t report him, he was the owner. FML
Today, an Asian man approached me and called me pretty. I thanked him and he asked if I'm Chinese. When I said, "No, I'm Taiwanese" he promptly spat in my face and called me a "traitor to the motherland." FML
Today, on my first day at my new job delivering mail, I was yelled at by a guy, who threatened to shoot me if I "trespassed" on his property. He made me toss his mail toward his porch from the street, before telling me to get lost. FML
Today, while volunteering at a local museum, I politely told an elderly gentleman to have a nice day. He responded by yelling "NO" and storming off. Everyone looked at me like I was some sort of monster. FML
Today, I, a retired U.S. Army soldier, was shouted down and called a liberal snowflake and even accused of stolen valor. Why? I admitted that I absolutely hate Trump. FML
Today, some obnoxious guys started calling me ugly. I tried to ignore them and be the bigger person. That's pretty hard to do when they start throwing rocks at you. FML

Anyone wearing a MAGA hat and abusing anyone else, either immigrant or not and even illegal or not, should be ashamed of themselves, and should be appropriately punished. No one is going to MAGA by being a total ass. I'd like to think they were wearing the caps just to insult Trump, but they are 100% wrong in either case. Be well.

I really doubt they meant it as an insult to Trump. Trump built his whole campaign on dog whistle racism, making immigrants a scapegoat for everything wrong in America. It's a trick as old as politics to pretend to be one of the little people (because nothing says average Joe American like a billionaire capitalist born with a diamond spoon in his mouth) and to pander to rampant xenophobia. He also made it ok to be openly bigoted and discriminatory under the pretense of being non-PC. He has no issue calling out to the families victims of crimes by illegal immigrants while completely ignoring immigrants victims of hate crimes (for instance Srinivas Kuchibhotla). Same happened in UK after Brexit. Racist idiots felt empowered to attack people based solely on their skin color or attire.

I typically just scroll through and have a laugh at the insane situation people get themselves in, but this story is completely ridiculous. Whether this man was an immigrant or not, behavior like that by anyone should not be tolerated. How anyone can click " you deserve it" to this is beyond me.
