Today, while getting my hair done, I was annoyed that the beautician was not paying attention while straightening my hair. After asking her three times to watch what she was doing, I grabbed the iron and said "let me do it, you're going to burn me!". I then burned two layers of skin off my ear. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got my hair dyed at a fancy salon. While the stylist was pulling out the foils in my hair I sat up and started screaming in pain because the hot foils were burning my scalp. All she said was "oh, you're fine". I went back home to find an oozing burn wound on my scalp. FML
Today, I used my hair straightener to attempt to straighten my eyelashes and burned my eyelid. I don't know what's sadder, that fact I thought it would be fun, or that I was stupid enough to think I wouldn't hurt myself. FML
Today, I burned my tongue. With a flat iron. FML
You absolute melt
Today, I was reading a magazine while straightening my hair. I got really into this one article until suddenly a huge clump of hair fell on it. I looked up and realized I had burned through the layer of hair I was straightening, leaving me with one layer at ear length and the rest at bra length. FML
Today, I decided to save a few bucks and let my mother cut my hair. I then had to wait in the hospital for attention due to the fact that she cut the tip of my ear off. FML
Hair care
Today, after spending a week detangling my hair (It took a week because my hands have nerve issues) because it felt like my scalp was glued to my scalp from not being taken care of, I cut it all off. My hair got tangled in the device twice and eventually revealed a burn on my scalp. FML
Today, I was straightening my hair when I heard this crunching, sizzling sound. Taking the flat iron away, I realized that I had just fused a spider to my hair with the heat. FML
Today, I got burned, all because the toaster scared me while I was holding a pot of boiling water. FML
Today, I was using my new curling iron to curl my hair. I was sitting down. Suddenly I dropped the iron and, as a reflex, I caught it between my bare thighs. FML
Today, I burned myself while cooking, so I asked my mom to get the burn cream while I waited in the kitchen. While I was waiting, I absentmindedly set my hand on the hot stove, earning myself a second burn. FML

How much attention does it require to hold something and slowly pull down?

You sound like a real bitch, OP. think about it from the hairdressers perspective - you keep getting onto her for not doing her job right, then take her tools away to do it yourself and screw it up. I would have laughed at you.

Hairdressers don't usually use irons to straighten hair, thats a bit unusual to start with. My hairdresser never has anyway.

It's called a straightening IRON. It's like a curling IRON, but to make your hair straight. idiot.

It's also for styling hair not cutting it.

Yeah I agree, no need to be a uptight bitch. She's the hairdresser, she knows what she's doing

Oww. Well..I know you didnt want to get your hair ruined at the salon but you didnt have to freak out, she probably knew what she was doing. D: Sorry, but you deserved it.

i agree. if shes employed as a hairdresser, then she probably knows more about hair then you.

#2 I think she means a straightener, not an iron, but this website is American I think. That's probably what they call them there. You're probably Australian and we call them straighteners. Also, she probably was paying attention but just talking to someone or something at the same time. Hairdressers aren't usually that stupid to not pay attention. If someone complains they can probably get fired.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, this site is based in France, since that's where the default location is. Also, we Americans do call them straighteners or flat irons, but I've never heard someone call it just an iron before.

In America we call them either a straightener, or a flat iron. Usually a flat iron.

All I've ever heard anyone call it here is a straightener. But I suppose it differs from what parts of the country your in.

DIY? YDI? and #8, it was a port of a French site, so, neither American nor Australian.
