Today, we had to give a surprise speech in speech class on two of our best and closest friends. My first friend was my mom. I had to make up the other one. FML

Today, I went to a surprise birthday party for a friend. Everyone was hiding and waiting to yell "Surprise!" when I got a call from my mom. I was loudly discussing family gossip and trying to get my mom to hang up when the door opened. Everyone yelled "Surprise!" and then turned to stare at me. FML
Today, my sister is working on her graduation speech. She gives her thanks to one friend for helping support her through school, like, "The sister I never had". FML
Today, I went to a wedding with my family. While the maid of honor was giving her non-heartfelt, three sentence speech, my mom and I started talking about how lame her speech was. When I turned around to look at my mom, I saw the camera recording the speech behind her. FML
Today, I'd planned a surprise party for my best friend's birthday. However, she apparently found out about it and told me at the last minute she couldn't make it, probably to avoid being the center of attention. I'd already invited all of our mutual friends, so I had to awkwardly cancel the party. FML
Today, I found out that my best friend was having a birthday party and I wasn't invited. I had just finished planning a surprise party for her. FML
Today, as a part of my autobiography project for school, I needed to have 2 friends and 2 family members each write me a letter. I ended up having to forge 3 letters. FML

It's okay OP. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends taught me that made up friends are actually cooler than real ones.

Hey at least you're close with your mom! I would give anything to be close to my mom again. And you'll find friends soon enough, sometimes the good friends take the longest to meet! :)

C'mon, people!!! Where is the obligatory "Aw, I'll be your friend?" Oh, well. It's good that your mom wasn't in class to give a rebuttal. "The law says I have to tolerate my child's presence!"

Always hated those assignments where they assume you have friends. Or where they make you choose group partners and you're stuck all alone.

I don't really have real friends either. They're mostly on the internet. But that's good enough for me.

My mother is really my best friend, my brother comes in a close second. All the friends I had in early childhood, where are they now? No clue. They all left to find work on the other end of the country or somewhere else. My parents are lucky many of their childhood friends are still living close by.
