Today, after changing his mind 3 times, my long distance fiancé told me he wasn't coming to see me for Thanksgiving. Out of anger, I threw his clothes, car magazines, and whatever else I could find in a huge, messy pile. During this, he walked into the room. He was going to surprise me. FML
Today, my fiancée broke up with me over text message while I was away for work. She later posted photos of her and her new boyfriend on Facebook, while still wearing my engagement ring. FML
Today, my fiancée broke up with me. Via a myspace message. While we were in the same apartment. FML
Today, my boyfriend dumped me. He decided he would be a gentleman and do this to me at work, over text, during a rush of unsympathetic customers, the day before our anniversary. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me for not remembering our anniversary. Our three week anniversary. FML
Today, my girlfriend of two years broke up with me. It was our anniversary just 3 nights ago, and she said she was sorry for leading me on. She still hasn’t told me why. FML

I don't think it's gonna be that easy to recover from having a three year old relationship ended, especially since it sounds like it came out of nowhere to OP. Having family unintentionally gouge that wound deeper the entire day is gonna make it worse.

Yes, OP will get over it in time. That's not the point though. The point is that instead of spending a happy day with her family, she'll be spending a day being upset minus who she thought was a family member, with the rest of her family asking about him.

That's not necessarily true. I was with my ex fiancé for almost 4 years when he broke it off. That was August 2015. I'm still not over it. No dates either.
