Today, someone stole my laptop from my car. However, they were nice enough to relock the doors after they smashed in the window. FML

Today, someone broke into my car by smashing the driver's side window. I'd be less irritated if they had just used the door handle; the lock has been broken for years. FML
Today, my car was broken into. They broke the passenger side window and took my radio system. But they didn't take the remote for it. FML
Today, I parked my car to go inside to grab my wallet than I'd forgotten. In the short time it took me to do that, someone broke two of my car's windows. FML
Today, after having my car been broken into the day before because I didn't lock it, I made sure I locked my doors. When I got off shift and entered the parking lot, I noticed a brick had been thrown through my windshield and a note that said, "Nice Try". FML
Today, I took my new laptop into my house from my car, thinking it would be a too much of a target for kids grabbing it. I came home tonight to find my door kicked in, my laptop gone and my TV ripped from the wall. FML
Today, I replaced my car's windscreen wipers, after someone stole the last pair. After I finished, I went indoors for a drink. When I returned, the new ones had been stolen too. FML
Today, I wanted to go shopping in my new car that I bought just a month ago. When I stepped outside, I saw someone had smashed the driver side's window. They didn't even steal anything. FML
Today, I came out to find my truck window broken. They broke into my truck to yank out the stereo. It was unlocked the whole time. FML
Today, I woke up to the sound of my car being stolen. FML
Today, I went out to start my car to go to work. When it wouldn't start, I popped the hood to see what was wrong. Some kind individual took advantage of the fact that my window doesn't roll up, and stole my battery. FML

To be honest though I say they deserved it. They chose to leave the laptop in their car. I know by now not to leave my phone, laptop ect in my car. It's common sense.

I know it is stupid to leave valuables in your car (you can leave them in my car, i don't mind ^_~), but you still don't deserve to have your car broken into. That's like saying if you choke on your food you deserve it because you were eating. Unless OP is evil or something she didn't deserve this. But OP is also an idiot for leaving the laptop in the car.

It's not clearly stated in the FML that her laptop was in plain sight. It's possible the thief just got "lucky" and found the laptop after randomly deciding to break into OP's car.

Keep the laptops and all everything valuable for that matter in your trunk. And hope OP have some means to track the laptop in case that guy connects to internet. Btw OP, don't forget to change your online account passwords in case any of them were saved in the laptop.

Was it visible? If so I'm not sure insurance will pay out. While perhaps not smart, something being in view doesn't give someone else the right to it, so he hardly deserves it.
