Today, my roommate turned the thermostat down to 50 degrees. Why? Because she read that shivering burns calories. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Bit nippy out
Today, my mom wants to save money on both heating and electricity. Put into practice, this means that the temperature in my room is about the same as that in our fridge. FML
Today, my skinny co-worker complained that sitting just underneath the AC vent was making her too cold. My boss had us switch places, because "your mass keeps you warm anyway". FML
Today, my roommate decided to turn off all appliances in the house to "save" electricity. This included the refrigerator. FML
Today, the lack of heating in my room has gotten to the point where I have to cuddle my clothes for the next day at night so they're not freezing when I wake up. FML
I'm awake
Today, my roommate thought it was a good idea to set my beard on fire to wake me up. FML
Today, I burned my butt on the heater when I tried to warm up after my shower. FML
Today, my mom made me go shopping with her. It was freezing out, but she didn't wear a coat, boasting that she doesn't feel the chill like I do. By the time we drove home she was whining about freezing to death, and now I'm stuck in a house whose heating is set to "inferno". FML
Thermoregulation wars
Today, my boyfriend is wearing a t-shirt and shorts. I'm wearing leggings, sweatpants, a vest, t-shirt, jumper and hoodie. If we turn the heating any higher, he starts overheating and sweating. At the current level, I'm still shivering. FML
Today, the heater went out at work. I was shivering so hard that someone thought I was having a seizure. FML
Today, the fire alarm went off in my dorm. Not only was it 30 degrees outside, but I was in the shower. FML

Being cold DOES actually burn calories. It requires more energy to maintain a homeostatic temperature if your environment is colder, therefore burning calories more quickly.

Tell them to drink ice water instead, It does actually burn calories, your body needs to heat the water.

She's right. Furthermore, simply being in a colder environment causes your metabolism to increase burning calories simply to maintain your body temperature. That said she's also an inconsiderate roommate.
