Today, my parents, who are divorced, were arguing over who has to pay for my bus pass. They decided they wouldn't pay unless the other one did too. Neither will pay the £60 it'll cost for my bus pass. I now have to walk to school every day, in freezing winter weather. It's 9 miles. Each way. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my parents told me that they've been having a contest to see who could punish me the most this week. So far, my mom is in the lead by kicking me out of the car near railroad tracks, and making me walk the 4 miles home in the freezing rain. FML
Today, I learned that when I start University next month I will have to either pay $900 for an all-access semester-long parking pass, pay $200 for for a bus pass that takes an hour to get to campus, or pay $100 to park outside campus and walk 4 miles to and from class each day. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I were waiting for the bus. The weather had been cold and snowy recently, and I realized I'd forgotten my transit card. She nonetheless got on the bus without me. I had to walk it alone in the snow. FML
Today, my dad said that if I walked home from school, a distance of 8 miles, he would give me $50. Two hours and four massive blisters later, I come home. When I asked for my money, he said "I was kidding." FML
Today, in addition to having to deal with chronic pain that keeps me from driving for more than 10 minutes, I now have to deal with my brother who thinks I'm not paying him enough for taking me to school 2 days a week, when he does the journeys for himself anyway. FML
This is fine
Today, I got another parking ticket because I can't afford a parking pass for the school I attend. I now have over $700 in unpaid parking tickets. I have classes all day from Monday-Thursday. I work Friday-Sunday. They recently cut hours at work. Some days I can't afford to feed myself. My mom said, "Figure it out." FML
Today, the seat in my car broke and wouldn't move forward. I had to walk to school in the rain because I was too short to reach the pedals. FML
I can't breathe
Today, my parents promised to drive me to my grandma's house instead of me taking the bus.I was so excited that I could finally have a week away from my suffocating parents but my dad cancelled tonight, so I'm stuck and secretly crying because if they'd have let me take the bus, I'd be at my grandma's, AWAY FROM THEM. FML
Today, my dad took my car keys off my keychain and hid them from me. His reasoning was, "I don't want you to be driving during the winter." Guess who has to walk ten miles a day to work, through the New England snow. FML
Today, I'm so broke that I had to call in sick to work because I couldn't afford to pay my bus fare. FML

1) It's snowing some places, so "winter weather" is not an unreasonable thing to say. 2) £60 is over 100 USD. Not necessarily that easy to come by, especially if... 3) OP may be a young kid with limited options. 4) Your parents totally suck. You could buy a pretty cheap bike and ride to school. And if you don't have the money, shovel snow (if there's snow) or do some silly jobs until you can afford a cheap solution.

@ capeicaz - actually smarty pants, France was the first country to officially adopt the metric system. they got the information they needed for it from England. it was from a guy you may have heard of - Benjamin Franklin. I dont know if you're up on your history, but is pretty much the original American. he may not be responsible for the original idea, but he is responsible for it's application. since he denounced his English heritage and became American, that makes +1 for America and 0 for you.

Wow, from where did you get that info? The redneck's manual? France was indeed the first country to adopt the metric system. However, the people that promoted this idea - Gabriel Mouton (French), Jean Picard (French) and Gottfried Leibniz (German) - had NOTHING to do with the US or Benjamin Franklin. Btw, France adopted the metric system in 1791...... Should I remind you that the American Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776 and that, before that, there was no United States of America to speak of? One more thing: most Benjamin Franklin discoveries/inventions are related to electricity. How could he have given the information France needed to adopt the metric system?

I can't believe Benjamin Franklin has found his way into this FML. wow!! talk about random you guys are clowns, seriously :P (no offense intended)

if you think that most of Benjamin Franklins work involved electricity then you don't know much about him. I site my source as wikipedia (if major news corporations can then so can I) and the basis of the metric system has been around since the dark ages, those are just people who have worked on the standards it uses. not to mention that the first modern publishing of the system was from a Finnish man, who you didn't mention.

1. I did not say that the people whose names I've mentioned were the inventors - the verb I used was "promoted". Of course that the basis of this system had been around long before and it took centuries for it to be perfected and to become cohesive (a sine qua non condition for any system). However, I am glad that it was you who stated that the information had been around since "the Dark Ages" .The US started to form at the ending of that period, so it is quite impossible for any American to have had anything to do with the development of the metric system - it just seems hard to believe that anyone who is part of a nation that is trying to evolve and to obtain its independence gives a s*** about helping out with a project that would only benefit another country. 2. I did not say that most of Benjamin Franklin's work was about electricity - I did, however, say that his discoveries and inventions are mostly related to electricity. I do know that he was a politician, a diplomat and so on, but I did not mention anything about these activities simply because I considered them irrelevant in a discussion about physics. What I was trying to say is that most of his research (scientific research!!!) revolved around electricity - whereas the metric system is used for measurements in other branches of physics (such as mechanics or thermodynamics). Therefore, I believe that the French politicians of the time would have probably asked for the opinions of scientists who specialized in those particular branches of physics. 3. The fact that you are using wikipedia as a reference is a clear indicator of your shallow knowledge of the subject so it's obviously pointless for me to carry on with this debate. P.S. The verb is "cite", not "site" and when using the genitive you are supposed to put an apostrophe between the noun and the "s". Dude, if someone like me, for whom English is not the first language, can spot 2 grammar errors in 2 paragraphs of yours ..............:o :o :o

Dude you own. Kudos for this not even being your first language, you sound like you have a degree in english

Maybe they're not arguing about money, but actually just playing a mean trick on you. They don't care about the money, they're using it as an excuse to make you walk 18 miles a day, (don't you people walk kilometers anyway?) because they hate you. You're probably the reason they got divorced.
jadetothes 0
no we don't use kilometres - as about twenty people have already stated learn to read.

You forgot the part where it's uphill both ways. But really, pay for your own bus pass or you know, buy a bike and quit complaining.

Steal the dough. They deserve that if they're making you piggy in the middle.
