Today, my mother admitted to me that she sends me up and down the stairs to get things for her because she thinks I could use the exercise. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Tact
Today, my mother offered to give my overweight girlfriend the workout DVDs that she no longer needs. FML
Heavy load
Today, my mom is mad at me because, at her insistence, I got a company to install a stairlift for her due to the pain in her legs, and after buying it and getting it installed, it turns out she’s too obese for it. It can carry me and Dad, but with her it just makes a grinding noise and refuses to move. FML
I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike
Today, I argued with my mom that I deserved enough independence to ride my bike to school. Halfway there, I realized I was so out of shape that I had to call her for a ride. FML
Cautionary tale
Today, I had trouble carrying a box upstairs because my arms were sore from working out. My mom asked me, "Why are you working out so much then?" I didn't have the heart to tell her it was because of her 100-pound weight gain and that I didn't want to end up looking like her. FML
Today, my mom once again commented on how I need to work out. It has come to the point that I now walk around in exercise clothes and have a bottle of water/fake sweat to put on, just so she thinks I work out. This is how lazy I am. FML
Domestic
Today, I got into a heated argument with my mother, during which she told me she wished she’d thrown herself down the stairs the minute she discovered she was pregnant. I told her, “There's the stairs, help yourself!” She called the police and told them I threatened to push her down the stairs. FML
FitBitch
Today, my mother-in-law sent me a pedometer for my birthday. I've been confined to a wheelchair for most of my life. FML
PIVOT!
Today, I helped my parents move out of their old house. While I was guiding my dad down the stairs with the couch, my mom asked me to pick up the tape on the step below me. I bent over and grunted. My dad thought I said "Go" and kept moving. He knocked me down two flights of steps. FML
You tried
Today, I was told how cruel and selfish I am for rubbing my weight loss in my mom’s face. I’ve literally begged my mom to walk, jog, workout with me for months. She went exactly once. She complained the whole time, then called me a bitch for finishing my run while she sat in the car. FML
Parkour
Today, my mother was vaccuming the stairs. Trying to be polite, I climbed over the banister to the floor above, so I wouldn't interrupt her. She looked at me odd and said, "I'm surprised that held your weight." The banister is maple and steel. FML

Well go out for a run so she'll stop

She just could've told you her concerns instead of you fetching her own things.

Sometimes tough love can make us grasp reality. I'm sure as bad as it sounds it might be a good thing for motivation. Good luck op. Best of luck!

But then doesn't that just make the mom lazy if she makes her daughter get all of her things for her?
DoomedGemini 38
Op shouldn't have to do anything she doesn't want to just because someone else, mother or not, wants her to.

I think a genuinely concerned mother does have more than enough right to enforce anything that will help op be a better and healthier person. The only thing wrong here is that op seems to think that she knows more than her mother and doesn't even consider her advice without being very insulted.

That's mean

You might see it as mean, and although I don't think what she did was the best way of handling things, I think she's just trying to look out for her daughter. This doesn't even mean she's fat. I'm skinny and I still need to exercise more to have a healthy body. Exercising isn't just for overweight people.

#16, Dude when I have kids, I will boss them the **** around! Kids are so lazy now. I'll be like "Me and your dad put a roof over your head and buy you Spongebob Macaroni, now go get me my bowling ball!" Dads gotta be tough, know what I means? Two dads means no bullshit.
Aimeejasmine 15
Seriously? They're not your property.. Just because you put a roof over their heads and give them food, ya know actually keeping them alive, doesn't mean you get to boss the poor kid around. And this bs that 'kids are lazy now', this hypothetical kid isn't even alive yet?? Be a good parent and encourage them to enjoy whatever sport they like best, not bitch them out for being alive is2g..

LOL 29 but what if they want just regular macaroni?

#39, that is too ******* bad.
rachh6421 12
That's probably an excuse she tells you to cover her own laziness
Teyros 24
Well you both benefit I guess *if* you do need the exercise..
FluffyPandas156 13
I have to say that's the harsh way to tell you your body is fat.
blackonblight 33
Or, yanno, they maybe out of shape in another way? Legs may be weak and need strengthening? Lungs? Exercise isn't always about losing weight.

I'm sure it's meant with the best of u intensions

And it wouldn't have been easier just to be honest?
Emmiii_fml 18
Not always. It can be really hard to tell someone that you care about that they need to watch their weight. My cousin for example is severely obese. She's 25 and it's going to kill her if she doesn't change her lifestyle. Nobody is really telling her/helping her and she's pretty much in denial anyway. It is not always easy, especially if the person isn't obese but just getting chubby/fat because then it's not life threatening. A lot of people would see that as fat shaming when in reality I'm sure the mom is just trying to prevent a problem occurring.

It's never easy being honest.
