Today, my husband told me that he can't find his passport. We're supposed to be leaving for Prague in two days. He's known about the trip for months. It was the anniversary vacation that was going to help our frayed relationship. Now my money is going to a hotel in Prague, but I'm not. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after months of planning and saving for our honeymoon in Italy, my wife and I were turned away at the airport because my passport only has a month until it expires, even though it's only a five-day trip. FML
Today, the day before my wife and I leave for our 1 year anniversary trip, I realized my passport expires in 2014, not 2015. Instead of a week's stay at an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic, we'll be spending three days in Louisville. Three angry days in Louisville. FML
Shady dealings
Today, I found out that my husband booked one-way tickets for our family to another country, without any return flights or even a place to stay, or money to navigate anything. We're living with my income, and I’m not sure if I want a divorce or a protective order against him. FML
Today, my fiancé forgot his wallet. He realized this once we were 5 hours away from home, before checking into a hotel, that had reservations under his name. FML
Bastards!
Today, I found out that my passport expired two days ago, two days before my first vacation abroad. I only found out when the airline employee scanned it at check-in, looked at me with sympathy, and said, "I don't think you're going anywhere today." My friends are currently posting beach photos while I'm filling out passport renewal forms. FML
Cheap-ass lying bro-bro!
Today, I found out my boyfriend is booking my dream vacation to Bali with his brothers, 6 months after he told me we couldn't go on vacation this year because he doesn’t have the money. They planned this within a week. I had been planning it with him for months. FML
Enjoy yourself, I guess
Today, I went with my girlfriend to the airport for some much needed vacation time. We arrived on time but were stopped at the gate when they told me I didn't have the right passport. The plane left without me. My girlfriend did too. FML
The old switcheroo
Today, I was unable to go on my dream vacation because I thought I'd lost my passport. Feeling incredibly stupid, I had no choice but to watch my plane depart without me. Shortly after, my brother handed me passport, saying that since I wasn't going on my trip, I could use my refund to pay for his cat's surgery. My trip was non-refundable. FML
Today, I found out less than three weeks before my wedding that my fiancé will lose his new, great paying job, unless we cancel our nonrefundable honeymoon. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend I wouldn't be able to get any time off work to go to Mexico with him, and that we'd have to get our tickets refunded, and reschedule. He said not to bother, and that he already had someone else in mind to take with him. FML

Such a shame, that you're an idiot and you don't know that both UK and Czech Republic are in the European Union and you actually need just and ID to cross the border between these two countries.

But who says OP's husband actually has an ID pass? Most people I know either have a passport (if they occasionally travel outside the EU), OR an EU ID pass (if they don't), but not both...

Czech Republic is in the Shenghen, you don't have to have a passport! Come just with the driving licence!

The Czech Republic may be in the Schengen zone, but the UK isn't. Therefore, OP's husband would still need to show valid ID/passport upon leaving and re-entering his own country :)

ID is ok, driving license isn't.

Am I the only one who noticed they still have TWO DAYS to find the passport? Instead of giving up and getting mad, why don't you help him find it? Why aren't your passports in the same place anyway? I can't believe everybody is jumping on the husband's case here. Sometimes people lose things, it happens. It's not like he just started looking when the cab is outside to head to the airport.

#61, we have reason to blame OP's husband. Clearly this trip was planned for an important reason, and if he didn't think to put his passport someplace where he wouldn't lose it, it clearly isn't a big deal to him. Yes, people lose things all the time, but if it were important to him to make it on this trip and try to help his marriage, he would have thought ahead and left the passport someplace where it wouldn't get lost. So while I understand your point, I disagree with it. Yeah, they have time to look, but if the husband had wanted to go and save his marriage he wouldn't have lost the damn thing to begin with.

Or maybe he HAD it someplace where it wouldn't get lost, but has since started packing, and didn't put it where he thought he did after that. And they DO still have two days. It should be possible to find it by then. There's a reason they're having relationship issues, and I almost guarantee it is not JUST because of him.

I don't think it's fair to say "if he cared about the trip/marriage, he would know where it is." You don't know how everybody thinks. It is possible that he cares very much about the trip, but didn't associate the trip and the overall goal of saving the marriage with details like the passport because he's disorganized. Or maybe he just assumed he knew where the passport was, so he didn't think about it until it was time to pack and then discovered it wasn't in the right spot. I still maintain two days before the flight is the wrong time to post this FML, because there is plenty of time to find it. For a lot of people, especially men I think, two days IS thinking ahead.
