Today, my housemate revealed her supposed loss of function of her arm was all a lie. I spent hours in the ER with her and had to go to work the next day. Last time she lied about cancer. I'm stuck sharing with her for another 7 months. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
One upper
Today, my friend (she's 14) said she had lung cancer. This made me and my other friend very worried for her, but now we know she was faking it since when she was "at the hospital" she was at a friend's house, and her mom came to the school to confirm she was faking the whole thing. FML
Today, my girlfriend's best friend told me she was in hospital after having made a suicide attempt. In shock, I had a panic attack and ended up in the hospital myself. Turns out it was all a lie to see whether or not I was committed to the relationship. FML
Can't help myself
Today, I agreed to help a "friend" again, after only finding out yesterday she'd been lying to me. FML
Deception
Today, I found out my husband was faking his leg injury. I caught him out and about walking just fine, hand in hand with another woman. I’ve been caring for him, holding down the bills, and taking him to an "at home" chiropractor for the past 7 months. FML
Today, my best friend of 12 years traveled cross country to help me recover from major surgery. I've been sitting in the hospital by myself while she has sex in my empty apartment with some guy she met. FML
Today, my roommate told me that I have to find a new place to live because I make his new girlfriend uncomfortable. I just had surgery and am bedridden. FML
Today, after I'd spent $3,000 dollars in preparations to move in with my girlfriend of 2 and 1/2 years, she confessed she's a mental patient who stole someone else's identity. She was telling the truth. FML
NPD FML
Today, I saw a Facebook post from my mom about my cancer, how she’s exhausted caring for me, and quit her job to be by my side, blah blah blah. The woman hasn’t set foot in my house in 11 months after I got a restraining order against her, and my "cancer" is a mole I’m getting removed next week. FML
Cold open
Today, I visited my ex-girlfriend's house. I saw her mother and asked, "Hi! Have you recovered from that nasty cold that you had for so long?" She said, "I don't have a cold," to which I smiled and said, "That's great to hear!" Turns out she has lung cancer instead. FML
Covidiots
Today, I found out my roommate was exposed to COVID back on New Year's. She tested positive on the 4th and was scared too tell me because she, "didn't want me to see her as irresponsible." Now I can't work for 2 weeks and need to find a place to stay because my roommate still doesn't think it's "that serious." FML

Put a lock on your bedroom door and tell her the story about the boy who cried wolf.

And when she has a real health crisis, you’ll ignore her and then she’ll die. Then, you’ll have the house all to yourself. Yay!

Why dont you just call her an ambulance and not go with her? Plus she will get stuck with the ambulance bill and will stop lying.

That only works if she lives in the US....

Yes, as a paramedic, I have undergone years of theoretical and practical training and carry thousands of dollars worth of specialised equipment just so you can use me in a passive-aggressive ploy against your roommate.

Hey she doesn't know if it's real or not, that's what you're there for

Münchausen syndrome?
DanielleinDC 34
From what I've read, people with Munchausen typically harm themselves for attention as opposed to faking illnesses for attention.

Well tell her alittle story of the boy who cried wolf and how you had to feed the boy to the wolf for fun, just show her your craziness 🤔🤣🤣

My so-called boyfriend did that. Only he claimed that his mom had cancer. Then much later when I mentioned it, he said that he’d never told me she was sick.

If she lied about having cancer, she’ll lie about anything.

If you know she's making shit up, just ignore her. If you're worried about it being something real for one: It's not going to be your fault if you learn from patterns and it backfires on her.

Fooled me once, shame on you, fooled me twice, shame on me!

I was once married to someone like that. Eventually her family got tired of her crying wolf. Yes, this included reports of cancer, too.
