Today, my girlfriend dumped me because I've recently become serious about getting fit, and have lost nearly 84 pounds. Apparently, when I was fat, I made her look smaller in comparison. When I got slimmer, she insisted I either gain the weight back or she'd leave. So she did. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Skinny Love
Today, my girlfriend of 5 years dumped me because she got tired of me being thinner than her and, in her own words, making her look bad. FML
Today, after supporting my girlfriend for over a year in her endeavour to lose weight, exercise more, and eat better, my now-slender girlfriend dumped me, because she's found someone "better" than me. FML
Pound for pound
Today, my girlfriend had a huge fight with me because while I'm trying to gain weight and she’s trying to lose some, I’ve still lost more weight than her. Not my fault my body’s natural preference is to drop pounds like they’re hot. FML
Quite rightly so
Today, after my ex helped me drop over a hundred pounds, I broke up with him because I looked and felt so much better, and knew I could do better. Turns out he was the only thing keeping me slim, as I've put back on over twenty pounds. I asked him to take me back and he told me to fuck off. FML
Target goals
Today, I officially completed my weight loss journey, only for my wife, who'd previously threatened to divorce me if I didn't lose weight, to tell me that she realized she liked me better when I was fat and that "you don't know what you have until it's gone." FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because I'm now about 15 pounds overweight. When I called him a hypocrite as he's over 40 pounds overweight, he said that his weight didn't matter because "it's the girl's job to look hot." FML
Today, I proudly informed my boyfriend that I am now a size 4, down from an 18, after months of dieting and exercising after he told me he would like me to be a size 6. He broke up with me for "not listening to what he wanted" and "being an overachiever". FML
Feeders
Today, my boyfriend of 5 years dumped me, after he intentionally made me fat so that I wouldn't leave him. FML
I never thought this happened in real life
Today, and since we met, my girlfriend has forced me to change my hair, clothing and jewellery, and my diet. She has changed basically everything about me. Then this morning she dumped me because I'm "not the guy she fell in love with a year ago". I'm not even upset because its too funny. FML
Bad guy
Today, my ex is bad-mouthing me, saying I dumped her because she got fat. That’s not true. I left because she completely gave up on life, no matter how much I tried to help. Not only did I get her gym membership, I even paid out of pocket for a mental health professional. That’s not cheap. FML

she did you a favor. Can't imagine the relationship would have been great anyway with her personality

Look, if she was only with you to feel better about herself, it's much better this way.

you deserved this, you deserve someone who cares for your health and well being, not a shallow superficial immature girl friend.

You're better off without her anyway. Congrats on the loss.

Looks like you lost another 100 something pounds of dead weight when she left. Honestly a good partner should be supportive of your lifestyle and lifestyle changes. Good riddance, keep doing what you're doing.

She's got issues.

I know that it sucks whenever you break up with an SO, but you are SO much better off without someone that toxic in your life. This is a really good thing (even if it's hard to see that right now). Congratulations on the weight loss, and good luck with your new lifestyle!

Thank you! Everyone seems to be saying he dodged a bullet, but a breakup is difficult no matter who initiates it or how much better he deserves. OP, hopefully you'll get past this quickly and can enjoy your new, strong body!

Congrats on the lifestyle change OP, but I have a question: Why the **** do men seem to lose so much weight so quickly? My husband lost 65 pounds before he met me and that was in a matter of months. He's dropped a size again since he's been working so much. Meanwhile I've lost maybe a collective 30lbs in the last three years despite eating healthier, doing a labor job, and walking to work every day. It's not fair lol
Algorithm 24
Hey 50, it's actually easier for most womens' bodies to hold onto fat than most mens' - on average, body composition is 6%-11% higher in fat, just for biological reasons. It doesn't make it impossible for most women to lose weight, just harder. On the flip side, most men also have more trouble gaining weight, including muscle if I remember right. If he lost 65 in

*less than six months, though, maybe keep an eye on him and his habits? This's probably just paranoid, but that's a pretty significant amount to lose in a matter of months and eating disorders in men are often overlooked. Hopefully I'm 100% wrong! Congratulations on losing 30 lbs so far. If it helps, the slower you lose weight, the more likely you are to keep it off and (maybe) more likely to avoid issues with loose skin if you do continue to lose.

oops double post, deleting this

Thanks for the positive response! Yeah that makes sense. My husband likes me just the way I am and I know I carry my weight well but it's always frustrating that I put on weight easier lol I suppose it's good to know that in an emergency situation I won't just wither away from starvation. He actually lost the weight by doing those, I think, Herbalife shakes. He only put on so much weight in the first place because he was eating fast food every single day while he was in school. Once he stopped that it was easy for him to drop the weight. The shakes just helped him kick the habit. He's actually lost weight recently because he works ten to twelve hours every single day. I try to make sure he has enough to eat and encourage him to take bigger portions but I don't know if even that's enough because his work is so fast-paced and stressful :( It pisses me off tbh. He starts work at 8AM every day and he hasn't gotten breaks sometimes until 4PM. It's sickening. His job isn't unionized but it pays overtime so what can ya do? :/

It seems that your ex was pretty self-conscious about her body size. Regardless, breaking up might've been a good thing since she used your body size to make herself look good. That's not the type of person who looks for your best interests

Don't let the door hit her ass on the way out. Congratulation on the weight loss, its a very hard accomplishment to drop that much weigh. I take my hat off for you, make sure you keep it off.
