Today, my crazy downstairs neighbor was yet again fighting with her boyfriend by slamming every door. When this didn't work, she went downstairs to fight with his grill. She wheeled it to the end of the driveway and pushed it over. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, after my old downstairs neighbor, who would come upstairs to bang on my door and yell at me every time she heard a sound from me at all times of the day, had finally moved out, it became clear that my new downstairs neighbor gets drunk and yells at the TV in the early hours of the morning. FML
Today, my crazy neighbor screamed at me from her porch for walking "too close" to her plants. I was on the sidewalk. She sprayed me with her hose anyway. FML
Today, I'm hiding in my own house, because my crazy neighbor wants to "play." Yesterday when I agreed, she made me spend the whole day with her, then burst into tears when I had to leave. She's been waiting outside for over two hours. FML
Today, I heard my downstairs neighbor pounding on her roof/my floor. I thought she was being a Karen and wanting me to be quiet, even though I wasn’t doing anything. I stomped back defiantly to make a point. Turns out she was having an asthma attack and was asking for help. Oops. FML
Today, the disgruntled ex-boyfriend of a woman who lives three floors down from me slashed her tires for breaking up with him. He also, for good measure, slashed the tires of the person parked to the left and right of her. I was parked to the right of her. FML
Today, I woke up to the sound of my psycho ex trying to break down my apartment door. FML
Today, I heard screaming coming from my neighbor's house. Since her husband has a history of abusing her, I called the cops. After they left with him in custody, she called to yell at me because they were "working things out" after "having a few drinks". FML
Today, I decided to sit on the back porch for a while to enjoy the nice weather and relax. Unfortunately, one of my neighbors was outside too, having a very loud argument with his wife for about 45 minutes. FML
Today, it was my turn to open the bar I work at. As I walked into our terrace, I found our insane upstairs neighbour leaving the scene without a word. This was right before I spotted the steaming pile of dung she'd left behind. FML
Today, looking out of my window, I spotted a fire raging in the building across from my apartment. Grabbing my phone, I dashed out to the balcony, only to slam into the screen door instead. After calling 911, I sprinted back out, only to clock the door a second time. FML

It's stressful to always be in such a tense environment, even if the anger isn't directed at you. It's awkward and uncomfortable and just generally unpleasant.

I kinda figured it was just the noise caused by all the door slamming, followed by a huge metal grill being tipped over. I imagine that would affect anyone within hearing distance.

as someone who lived with peopel who constantly fought, it can get very stressful. my husband and I lived with his mom and brother and brothers girlfriend for a year and the brother and girlfriend constantly fought. it can get very tense and very frustrating for the people who have to hear it.

there could be three (or more) floors where the OP is living. OP is in the third floor, downstairs neighbor is in the second floor thus having to go downstairs to the ground floor. doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's a scenario like that.

Crazy neighbors are just free entertainment. Besides slamming doors and as long as they aren't abusive I see no big issue.

what OP explained is exactly abusive behaviour. just because the neighbor, from our understanding, didn't hit the person they were yelling at doesn't mean it isn't abuse. what the neighbor did was a form of manipulation. 'if you don't do this I will break this' essentially the neighbor is using the guys possessions to attempt to gain control over him. which is abusive.
