Today, my boyfriend told me that he'd feel like a failure if he went to community college. I'm planning to go to community college next year. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Seize the day
Today, I asked my boyfriend what would happen if I didn’t get into the same school as him. He replied, "Then we’ll just break up." We broke up. I still don’t know what school I’m going to. FML
Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend why he was dating me. He replied, "Well, there's not a lot of options at this college." FML
Cheers!
Today, my boyfriend got rejected by his dream college. In an effort to comfort him, I told him that he is incredibly smart and that it's their loss. He replied, "Of course you think so, you're an idiot!" FML
And they say romance is dead…
Today, my boyfriend of two years accidentally admitted to me that he settled for me because he doesn't think he can do any better. FML
Today, my boyfriend jokingly said that if I didn't pass my exam, he wouldn't have sex with me for a month. I failed it, and now he thinks I did it on purpose. FML
Today, I left for college. I spent hundreds of dollars on clothes, bedding and other things. After packing my entire closet and everything else I needed, I left only to have to head back home. My dad forgot to pay the first semesters tuition. He said "Oh well, you would have failed out anyway." FML
Today, my boyfriend of almost two years and I broke up. Earlier, we scheduled our classes for senior year to match perfectly. Can't wait. FML
Today, at work, I was told I was a failure. Feeling like crap, I went to my best friend to see if he could make me laugh. He told me that he felt obligated to hang out with me, so he thought that we shouldn't anymore. FML
Great timing
Today, I finally got the courage to tell my boyfriend that I love him. We've been dating almost a year and in a few days we will be moving into the same apartment building and attending the same college. He said, "I'm sorry, I don't feel the same way." FML

At least you're moving ahead. Don't worry, you'll be fine. :)

College is expensive as hell. You'll save a ton of money by going to a community college and as long as you still get a degree from a good school you'll be fine.

ive attended two universities and a community college. at the lower level it's all the same. your bf will soon discover that spending thousands to take psy 101 is a rip off.

Nothing in the world is wrong with CC. A lot of people end up at a major university in an auditorium of 200+ people and failing. At least at community college you won't waste as much money, you also have way smaller classes.

Ok no **** that shit. People think community colleges are for "losers" and "idiots" who couldn't get into a uni. I think that's the dumbest thing ever. Sure, people who couldn't make it into a uni are trying to fix their game. They also could be trying to save money. It's a hard time to be alive and want to be educated. There are so many other reasons. People who have children and want to get a degree to pursue in a career that'll better their family may want to take it slow and not pay $19383814 a year, while they work to provide as we. People who want to stay close to home. People trying to make up for the years they missed from education after graduating from high school. They're coming back and I find that inspirational. It also doesn't make you a failure if you choose not to go to college at all. There are trades, jobs that don't require a degree and will allow you to move up, the longer you work there. There are so many options for students and non students. It shouldn't matter where you go, as long as you're doing yourself some good. I say **** the fact that I should pay heavy tuition to get the same general ed that I would at a community college but for less tuition just because community college has dirt in its name.

Don't feel like a failure!

I *love* my community college. All of the professors are from "real" universities and I've learned so much from them. Your boyfriend is merely ignorant about it (I don't mean that in a rude way, he just literally don't know enough about it). Go on to the community college, it will be fine!

That's actually a very smart move for you. I went to a private university and most of my friends from there are weighed down in $20 grand worth of debt.

Get out of that relationship quick. If he is that snobby about your school, there will be nothing in life that you will do to please him. His expectations are already through the roof.

It's a personal choice, colleges and universities are basically sixes for the generals and even some degrees. Life is short - be happy while creating as little long term debt as possible!

So? Just because he would feel that way about himself doesn't mean he'd absolutely feel the same way about you. You're each allowed to have differing opinions and priorities. Do what is best for you and let him do what is best for him. I don't think it's anything to get too worked up about, however, if a small thing like that does cause issues, then maybe it's time to rethink the relationship. Best of luck, wherever your road takes you!

Community colleges are great. I went to one to start out, and I almost have my Master's now. People who bash them are fools, who are probably going to waste a lot of money for being so elitist. There can be reasons to go to a 4 year right away but not usually.
