Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. Whilst browsing the web, I clicked on an ad that said "How to Get Your Ex Back in a Day". Now I am single and have a computer virus. FML

Those exploitative ads will get you when you're most vulnerable. When my cat died, I clicked on one that said "Reanimate Dead Animals With This One Weird Trick" and sure enough, I got a virus. Not a computer virus… it just wasn't a particularly sanitary trick.

Everyone knows those things are scams. YDI

*sigh* dont you recognize a stupid ad when you see one?

The op was distracted and emotional. I'm sure we have all done something we regret while our emotions are in control.

...damn, lonely and stupid.

It's not about whether it's obvious or not. Thing is it happened.. You have my sympathy..

Not supposed to click on ads, they usually are gateways to get viruses on your computer.

YLS for the breakup, but YDI for the virus.

I think that's a sign to just move on......and clean your hard drive too

op, just a heads up, baggagereclaim is hands down THE BEST site ever for picking yourself up after a break up. i wouldn't have survived as easily through mine without it. just remember you are a strong beautiful individual and you gotta get through a few frogs to find a prince!

Had to pick both. Shit happened, so your life sucks, but on the other hand, if you're browsing the web with an unprotected computer, you deserved the virus. Especially with the number of free, yet good, antivirus programs out there, there's no real excuse for not having an antivirus on your system.

can't speak on the break up part, but definitely a YDI on the virus

Not a virus, just annoying marketing.
