Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, during a lecture, my teacher jokingly talked about the time he was best buds with George Washington. Another student then asked, "Really? You knew him?" I'm in an advanced placement U.S. history class. FML
Today, I sat through an incredibly long and tedious class lecture. Just as my professor was nearing the end of his lecture, the resident stoner loudly yawned and asked what we'd been talking about for the past hour. We got to hear most of the lecture all over again. FML
Today, I had a really big debate in my English Class about the legalization of weed. My group had to state reasons why weed shouldn't be legal and no one except me had prepared. My partner came to class totally stoned. Our group lost the debate. We got an F. FML
Today, I had to explain to my teacher that Czechoslovakia is no longer a country. She kicked me out of class when she found out I was right. FML
Today, I learned, 90 horrifying minutes into a college exam, that my 85-year-old calculus teacher had spent the last three weeks teaching us the wrong chapter. FML
Today, I heard two of my students having a conversation. One asked what state Arizona was in, and the other replied Canada. I teach sixth grade social studies and they weren't joking. FML
Today, while teaching my history class, a girl asked me where North America was. She lives in North America. FML
Today, I was babysitting, and a little girl asked for help with her homework. I cheerfully began an explanation, only to freeze mid-sentence. I could not for the life of me remember how to do long-division. I'm about to graduate from Cornell University, and her little brother had to correct me. FML
Today, while I was taking a test in class, there was a question that had everyone stumped. After what seemed like forever, the teacher finally noticed and said he'd typed the question wrong. I spent more than half the time I had to complete the test on a question that wasn't even written correctly. Yes, I failed. FML
Today, during an important meeting, I forgot the name for West Virginia and described it as, "Virginia a bit to the left". FML

Alright, just to be clear, we're actually a landlocked island provenance governed by many British queens throughout history who use time travel. Maple syrup is currency (it's 78¢ per fluid ounce) and counterfeiting is a common problem, especially with those corn-syrup-selling Miss Buttersworth assholes. I'd tell you more, but my knowledge is in low capacity mode while the rest of the population is in hibernation—we're also a hive mind.

It was an A.P. class??!! Appalling! So, what did y'all decide? State or not a state? Where was the teacher in this debate, or was s/he confused too? Our education system sucks. 'Murica.

California would be a more interesting choice.

I don't know why you are so shocked...the US is obviously full of stupid people. How else can you explain Donald Trump.

**** you. Trump is the only pres who has done anything to clean up the mess America has become. I guess you would prefer crooked Hillary who has done nothing but sell America out.

You gotta wonder what the regular US History at that school is like. Talking about the accomplishments of Pres. Underwood?

ok so obviously Vermont is considered to be one of the 50 States, but using Massachusetts as an example, mass is actually a Commonwealth. . . so, devils advocate. . . was your discussion along those lines? or just pure ignorance? a distinction like that and debate along those lines sounds like AP curricula, although its been a few years from me and I actually stayed away ap history to focus more on math and science

So the state I live in isn't a state then?
