Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I had an important oral report to deliver with a partner. Not only did he come in late and high, he pronounced Virginia as "Vagina" the whole way through. FML
Today, I wanted to look clever during a work meeting, so I used a thesaurus to find a fancy word for “important.” I ended up calling a project "pivotal" but mispronounced it as "pee-votal" in front of everyone. FML
Today, while I was trying to explain to my friend how smoking weed everyday doesn't make you stupid, I forgot what I was talking about mid-sentence. FML
Today, while not feeling well at work, I had to finish up some papers. I was so out of it, I couldn't remember how to spell my name. I had to improvise by pronouncing each syllable of my name out loud. My boss now thinks I'm a dumbass. FML
Today, I got pulled off a hugely important project, all because I accidentally spelled "country" as "cuntry" in an email to our client. FML
Today, I was teaching a class when a student pointed out that I'd used the wrong "your/you're" while writing on the board. FML
Today, I was meeting up with a friend in a town. He said he was at the restaurant we were going to meet at; I was too. Turns out I was in the wrong town. FML
Today, while thinking about something cringe I did, I accidentally said, "Oh fuck!" aloud during someone's speech. The room besides me and the speaker was otherwise quiet. FML
Today, while giving a brief presentation at work, I blanked out on what I was going to say. I tried to make a joke and tell them I'd had a brain fart, but all I managed to say was, "I farted." Well, at least they all laughed. FML
Today, I was at my grandma's funeral. While giving the eulogy, I accidentally mixed up "You will be missed" and "You won't be forgotten" and instead said "You won't be missed." FML

While on vacation, I've told people I'm from West Virginia. A lot of people don't realize that it's a state, apparently. A lot of people ask me, "Oh, so do you live anywhere near (Virginian city)? I have family there." No, no I don't. I even had one person get extremely confused and ask me, "But isn't that the western part of Virginia?" Again, no.

I've lived in Virginia (within 20 miles of the WV border) my entire life and this is the first time I have ever heard it called that. Sorry, but no. That's simply not true.

I'd like to make a casual point here, 37. I have a friend who grew up believing that dandelions, in their flower form and in white, puffy seed form, were two entirely different plants because no one had ever told her they were the same. This same friend also claims to have heard "many" people use very strange pronunciations of common words, claiming she's learned those are the normal ways of saying the words in question. The point being that just because you have heard or not heard someone say something, that doesn't mean it is or is not true, respectively.
